All FarmVille records have been surpassed by Zynga’s new games application – CityVille. As of today, the popular Facebook games developer’s latest game now has 16.8 million daily active users when compared to FarmVille’s 16.4 million. According to AppData, CityVille also has 69.8 million active monthly users when compared to FarmVille’s 57.2 million monthly active users.

The new CityVille game allows Facebook users to become the mayor of a virtual city and oversee its development into a large metropolis. It’s approach of allowing people to build their dream city from the ground up encourages user-interaction by forming partnerships with friends’ cities, and building franchises with the help of other friends. In addition, CityVille is available in five languages: English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish on Facebook at CityVille.com.

Other similar successful apps by Zynga include, FrontierVille and Texas HoldEm Poker, who also rank in the top five totalling around 184 million active users for Zynga alone, accross all four games. Phrases, a non-Zynga app, makes up the top five list. Zynga also leads the Developer board with 271.4 million users, more than four times second placed, Takeoff Monkey.
