Sony Resolves PlayStation 3 Network Bug

A recent fault associated with the old style (2006 model) PlayStation 3 has been fixed by Sony. The clock bug which has prevented owners of PlayStation 3 from using the games online network was caused by machines that “recognised the year 2010 as a leap year”.

Although the problem did not affect the newer slim models, many PS3 owners chose to heed Sony’s advice to stop using their games console until the problem, which reminds one of the millenium bug, was resolved.

A statement released by Sony PlayStation 3 on 02 March 2010 confirms that normal network service has been restored for all PS3 users. However, “if the time displayed on the XMB (XrossMediaBar) is still incorrect, users can go to Settings to adjust time settings manually or via the Internet”.
