According to Gfk/Chart-Track, the previous record holder, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, sold 1.23 million units in the United Kingdom in November last year compared to around 1.4 million Black Ops units last week. Considering its record breaking success, it is perhaps not a surprise that the game publisher, Activision, expects the total revenue generated by this latest release to supersede the $550m generated by Modern Warfare 2, when the first five days of sales calculated. Already, analysts are predicting that Call of Duty: Black Ops could go on to become the biggest game of the year, potentially raising over $1 billion for its publishers.
