What is an OTA Update? How does it Affect Different Industries?

Technology has advanced so much that it sometimes becomes difficult for us to keep track of it. There was a time when computers and networks needed wires to stay connected, but now everything is connected wirelessly which has made life tangle free. With the transforming technology it has become evident that the number of users has also increased, these users are mostly the smartphone users or the smart devices users, which are IoT enabled. It is very important to keep these devices up to date as in the online world new threats arise every day, and cyber-attacks can lead to the loss of personal information.

Here is where OTA (Over the Air) services come into play, you see OTA services are primarily used to deliver software updates or data to IoT devices to keep them safe from cyber-attacks and provide new features. OTA software updates have been around for one decade now, but everybody still does not know what it is. Many people still ask the question: “What is OTA update?”, if they hear someone talking about OTA services. OTA management has a lot of benefits some of them being:

OTA management systems have had a tremendous effect on all industries, and it is now used in all consumer smart goods which require continuous updates. For example a few years back when there used to be a problem in a cars ECU engineers had to manually reset and repair it, but now with the help OTA services it can be done from anywhere at any time, this gives the consumers a hassle-free experience and saves companies costs. Usually, now all IoT devices support OTA like phones, washing machines, fridges, cars etc.

Without OTA services it would have been hard to maintain such a vast ecosystem of smart devices in today’s time. OTA is one of the few new technologies which majorly has advantages, and no disadvantages are seen, it would be good for humans only if such technology is invented which has next to no disadvantages.
