The Trends We Could See in SEO in 2020

Search is constantly changing so whilst it can be challenging to predict the trends that will occur in the New Year, we have a couple of ideas of what you should look out for.

Sourcing a digital marketing agency to do the hard work for you can make it even easier to keep on top of the latest trends, but we’re sharing some initial insight with you to help ensure that your 2020 starts with a bang!

Get Ready For Voice Search

Searching by voice is becoming increasingly popular, with 50% of all searches expected to be conducted in this way by 2020. With this in mind, we believe that voice search is one to keep an eye on in the new year, with a number of businesses already preparing for the changes set to take place from January. To prepare your website, make sure that you are writing content that reads how it is spoken. In other words, ignore the “fluff” and get to the point in a few simple words.

Consider User Intent

As more and more tools become available, understanding user intent is becoming increasingly straightforward, allowing us to delve deeper into our audience’s preferences than ever before. Whilst some people prefer text over images, others prefer video and audio when it comes to understanding an in-depth topic. Whatever your audience prefer, you’ll be pleased to know that you don’t necessarily have to get it right the first time as repurposing content is also hot on the trends list for 2020.

Repurporse, Repurporse, Repurporse

As mentioned, repurposing your content is becoming increasingly popular, allowing businesses to get the most out of their blog posts and other existing content. The great thing about it is, when you repurpose a piece of content, you pretty much have all the information you need directly in front of you, making it much more efficient to pump out new forms of content. Depending on your business, you may consider turning a guide into a long-form blog post, an interview into a Q&A type post or page on your website or even a few simple stats into social media posts to share on the likes of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn or even Instagram.

Technical SEO Will Be More Important Than Ever

Investing in technical SEO in 2020 will be more important than ever. But, of course, technical SEO is made up of numerous factors, with site speed being one to watch in the new year. A number of SEO professionals have already shared their concern online, urging businesses to ensure that their site loads at an efficient speed. Essentially, the faster your site loads, the more Google will reward it, helping you to achieve your objective without having to really lift a finger.

Don’t Forget To Optimise For Featured Snippets

As well as ensuring that your content has been optimised for E-A-T purposes, you want to ensure that you are optimising it for featured snippets in addition to a whole range of other Search features. In order to rank for Position 0, you should first look at the different results in the “People also ask” section of a webpage in order to gain a better understanding of exactly what people want to find out. This will help to support you when generating your own featured snippets as you will have a clear idea of the words used to generate a snippet.

Now that 2020 is on the horizon, it’s time to start considering how you will prepare your marketing strategy. What other trends do you think will come into play in the New Year?

Great read! I’ve read a lot about repurposing content! I think there’s a typo error on your “repurpose, repurpose, repurpose” subheading 🙂
