Simple Homemade Pest Control Remedies for Every Household

Pests in homes are irritating and difficult to control for any family. They can attack your food, your clothes and some might eat up your furniture. People use a variety of measures to control the pests in their homes, but all of them are not effective.

Baking Soda and Sugar for roaches

The mixture of baking soda and powdered sugar is an excellent cockroach killer. Mix equal quantities of baking soda and powdered sugar and spread it in the area where you see most roaches. They will disappear within a few hours.

Borax and Sugar for ants

Borax and sugar when mixed make an excellent repellent for ants. The mixture is also useful for ants as you can place them in the line of the ant’s march to stop them from entering your house or room. You can also use a solution of the borax and sugar to repel the ants. To make a solution take ½ cup sugar, and 2 tablespoons of borax and put both of them in 1 cup of warm water.

Garlic Mint spray

Garlic mint spray is the best remedy for outdoor pest control. If you have pests in your garden that are eating away at plants and shrubs, garlic mint spray is the best solution. Take some garlic cloves and mint leaves and blend them in a blender.

Then add a pinch of red pepper and add some drops of dishwasher liquid. Boil the whole solution and let it sit overnight. The next day put it into a spray bottle, and it is ready to use. Spray the mixture on the plants and shrubs in your garden, and you will be surprised to see the pests disappear within a few hours.

Pepper spray for plants

Pepper spray is a strong repellent for pests in your garden. To make a take four tablespoons of cayenne pepper flakes and mix them in a gallon of water. Then boil the mixture in a pan on low flame for 12 to 15 minutes. Leave it for 24 hours and add a few drops of dish wash. Spray it on the plants and shrubs in your yard to keep the pests and insects at bay.

Neem Oil

Neem is an Indian herb also known as ‘Azadirachta Indica’ in English. The neem oil is also an excellent insect repellant, and people in eastern countries use it for pest control and to treat many infections in the body. The best thing about neem oil is that it can repel the pests away, but it is non-toxic to mammals and birds.

Sugar and Corn syrup

You can make your flypaper using sugar and corn syrup. Mix the sugar and corn syrup in equal quantities and dilute them in double the amount of water. Spread the sugar and corn syrup mixture on the brown paper carry bags and use them to trap the annoying, germ-carrying buzzers.

Tea tree and Eucalyptus oil

Mix some drops of tea tree and eucalyptus oil in a bowl of water and put the mixture in a spray bottle. Spray this mixture in the cupboards, corners of your homes, edges of the rooms, and, any other areas of the house from where you want to remove the pests.

Cinnamon

Cinnamon has a strong smell that repels insects and pests. Grind some sticks of cinnamon to make a fine powder and sprinkle it in your cupboards, shelves, kitchen, and areas where there are most of the pests. You will be surprised to see where how the pests disappear with the use of cinnamon powder.
