Top Tips for Taking Clear Photos

All photographers strive for and want to take perfectly clear and sharp photographs, but this is easier said than done.

All photographers strive for and want to take perfectly clear and sharp photographs, but this is easier said than done. A blurry picture looks very mediocre as compared to one that is clear because the latter looks spectacular, no matter what the subject matter might be. There was a time when taking such clear photographs was immensely difficult, but it has become easy these days due to the various tools available. There are many different methods that can be applied to all situations and enable you to take an eye-catching picture with crisp details, clean lines and no blurring.

Some of the excellent tips that can come in handy when you want to take clear photos are outlined below:

Opt for the sharpest aperture

The sharpest photos can only be achieved by camera lenses at one specific aperture. This is around f/8 on most camera lenses and is two to three steps down from the widest aperture. There are other considerations that also need to be made when choosing the aperture like achieving an acceptable depth of field or shutter speed, but it is best to stick to the optimum aperture where possible.

Reduce your ISO

The digital noise in your photos is directly proportional to the ISO speed. A higher speed means more digital noise, which means that even the sharpest details will come off as fuzzy, which affects the image’s overall sharpness. Where possible, you should go with the lowest ISO setting on your camera and this is usually around ISO 100 or 200, as long as this doesn’t have a negative impact on your other settings like shutter speed.

Switch to Autofocus

When you focus, the cameras try to keep most of the scene as sharp as possible. This doesn’t create a problem when you want to wish to see detail everywhere, but it doesn’t mean that every object will appear super sharp. If you want to focus on a single object, you will have to ensure that the autofocus calibration is done right to ensure it focuses sharply on a single point.

Select a better lens

The quality of the lenses can have a big impact on the clarity and sharpness of your photos. It is a given that more expensive lenses will produce sharper images as compared to the cheap ones. Yes, it will cost you, but you should consider this as an investment in the long run.

Eliminate lens filters

The sharpness of the lens is reduced by filters and this can influence the final quality of the images. When a filter is not needed, it is best to remove them to improve the picture’s clarity.

Increase shutter speed

You need to increase your shutter speed as much as possible because this makes your camera less susceptible to movement. The recommended shutter speed is “1/focal length” and this allows you to get a clear picture.

Use these tips and you will be able to take the clear and sharp images you want.
