Apple iPhone X – Everything You Need To Know

Living with iPhone X, we’ve learned a lot about it and it’s all right here.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary, Apple launched iPhone X. Since the launch of the phone, we are convinced that it showcases a bold step towards the future. A completely redesigned phone from top to bottom, iPhone X comes with innovative facial recognition feature, a stunning OLED display, and a next-gen user interface.

Oh, it is both dust and water resistant and is not only an improvement over previous iPhones but also bridges the gap between Apple’s phones and flagship Android devices.

Design: A massive screen with a return to the glass

The phone is almost all screen. Featuring a glass over an aluminium body, the device comes with an OLED panel instead of an LCD as on previous Apple handsets. The super retina display of iPhone X is more colorful than before and also has more contrast. It has a 2436 x 1125 resolution which is higher than any other iPhone launched before. However, the most striking feature regarding its display is the slim bezel-less design which enables it to pack a high-resolution 5.8-inch display into a body that is smaller and more compact than iPhone 8 with a 5.5-inch display.

Specifications and features

To talk of performance, Apple’s new A11 “Bionic” chip comes along with a new six-core architecture that features two cores for heavy lifting along with the other four cores provided for enhanced energy efficiency.

Additionally, the feature of wireless charging is a boon to its everyday usability. An iPhone X can now go its entire life without being plugged into anything or having anything plugged into it.

Many of you must be wondering about the lost traditional home button. Well, it is killed in part by the X’s bezel-less design leaving no room for a Touch ID sensor below the screen. Don’t be upset because despite its being the first iPhone without a home button, Apple has included a facial recognition feature which is called Face ID. This feature can unlock the phone by just recognizing your face. When you actually want to go to home screen, you will be required to swipe up from the bottom of the instead of tapping a button.

Apple says that there is just a 1 in a  million chance that the Face ID sensor will be fooled by someone else as unlike other similar setups on other phones, the face scanning technique of Apple uses multi-point infrared sensors to ensure that a simple photo of your face won’t grant access to anyone shady. It also has the capability to tell if you are looking directly at it or just in its direction.

On top of everything, Apple has implemented some software protection against people stealing your phone and holding it towards your face to unlock it. If you don’t stare at the phone, it won’t unlock and if you grip the buttons on the edges of the phone, the device will disable the facial recognition temporarily.

Camera

Like the iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X also comes with a 12-megapixel dual rear camera both of which have an optical image stabilization consisting of a wide-angle f/1.8 aperture lens and a telephoto f/2.4 aperture lens. This feature allows for a 2x optical zoom along with Apple’s new beta Portrait Lightning photo mode, creating a depth map to separate the subject from the background and adjusting the lightning between foreground and midground to get the best image in real time. The 7-megapixel front camera supports portrait mode and possesses auto stabilization and exposure control features. The portrait mode lets you play photographer by blurring out the background details.

X is the only iPhone top support portrait mode with front facing camera enabling you to capture the perfect selfies.

The new image signal processor provides advanced pixel processing and a new colour filter. In addition to enhanced picture quality, Apple has also improved video quality with 4K resolution movies at 60fps and slow-motion video at 240 fps.

Animoji

Replacing old school non-moving Emojis which are good enough anymore, Apple has come up with new emojis which are animated by your face. There can be called Animojis which brings your messages to life.

Animoji’s are basically the animated Emojis that react to your facial expressions enabling you to scowl or laugh away and see the on-screen character do the same thing.

Price and Availability

The iPhone X costs $1,000 and is available at Apple stores, carriers, and retailers. You get the option to nab one in either 64 GB or 256 GB with later costing you $1,150.

Some carriers like Sprint are offering a discount to the customers. Both new and existing customers on sprint flex plan will be able to grab a 64GB iPhone for $22.22 per month for 18 months with an eligible trade-in.
