4 Technological Innovations With Use In Multiple Industries

Technology is something most of us use each and every day, for multiple hours, generally. Whether it is watching TV, driving our cars, using our computers or spending time on our phones, people use technology for almost everything. Not only that, but most of the technology we use hasn’t been around longer than a couple of decades at most.

The advancement of technology has never been greater than it is today, and things are constantly being innovated and changed. In particular, there are certain technologies that are primed to not only innovate a single industry, but could have wide reaching impacts on others as well. This article will take a look at four of them.

Blockchain Technology

Blockchain technology burst onto the scene in a huge way in 2017 due to the increased interest in cryptocurrency. However, while cryptocurrency got all of the attention, it is actually the technology behind crypto that is most attractive to some people. It is incredibly secure, completely decentralized and was actually initially created to serve as the transaction ledger for Bitcoin.

However, now other industries are seeing the value of the blockchain. In addition to implications in the financial industry, blockchain technology has many more uses. It can help create smart legal contracts, can help keep medical and education records secure and verifiable, and so much more.

Photogrammetry

Photogrammetry is the science of taking and/or making measurements from a photo. It is commonly used when making maps or surveying, and is great for measuring distance between two points, even if they are incredibly far away. While photogrammetry itself isn’t new and has been around for a while, it has undergone some huge changes.

Not only has the quality of photo modeling software been improved by leaps and bounds recently, but the drone market has really had an impact here. With drones, it is easier, cheaper and more efficient than ever before to use photogrammetry. This has made people able to use photogrammetry in their homes to help with renovations, or at the job site to know exactly how much of a certain material is needed.

Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence has seemingly been talked about for many years, but is now finally taking some steps forward. We have self-driving cars, virtual assistants like Siri and even smart learning thermostats like Nest. And this is only the beginning, as more and more A.I technologies will begin to come out.

Out of all the technologies on this list, A.I might have the most potential. It can literally change everything about our everyday lives from how we transport ourselves and goods, how we shop, what jobs we have and so much more. We don’t quite know the reach that A.I will eventually have, but we are surely excited for the possibilities.

IOT

IOT (which stands for the internet of things) is something you might not know about, but likely use each and every day. IOT is essentially a system of interconnected devices that can exchange data and information with one another without any sort of human intervention.

This is similar to how your phone will connect to a smart speaker, how your TV will connect with your Chromecast and more. IOT is allows for a more direct and efficient integration between devices, which results in higher efficiency, benefits to economics and more. Currently, the number of IOT devices is in the billions, and is sure to grow in the near future.

Within the coming years, all four of these technologies could be present and important in many different industries. Only time will tell, but these innovations seem to be the future of technology.
