The Most Powerful Dry Hair Treatments

Dry hair can sometimes feel impossible to manage, but surprisingly it’s treatment is simple. Having brittle hair can feel like an endless battle, it lacks lustre and can look unhealthy to the naked eye. If you’ve ever experienced dry hair then you’ll know the struggle to make your hair feel full of volume and lovely. This can have such a detrimental effect on your confidence and how you feel around others.

Although we shouldn’t dwell on our imperfections (after all, nobody is perfect!) it’s hard to be OK with our dry hair when we really would rather have hair like the models in TV ads. Our hair is a very important feature on us and having hair that isn’t easy to style means we can feel bad about it. Going to a beauty salon means our hair comes out feeling gorgeous too, this is because they have all the products can can’t afford normally. Using hair treatments can allow your hair to look shinier, feel softer and be healthier in general.

Retail products can be expensive and it’s not always the best thing to invest in the latest trends as they often don’t work for us personally. The best thing to do is always DIY yourself some at home before going out and buying expensive products, when you’re satisfied with your hair and think your treatments are starting to work then you can move on to the more expensive remedies.

That way you’re saving time, money, and effort in terms of getting your hair back to its healthy shiny self. It’s not a problem if your hair has always felt dry though, so don’t think these treatments aren’t for you; they can be! The good thing about inexpensive home remedies and drugstore products is that you don’t end up wasting tons of money on things that don’t work for you.

Avocado Hair Mask

Those delicious avocados you had for breakfast could be more useful than you think, avocados are highly rich in vitamins including minerals and fatty acids which will essentially restore your damaged hair. Mash a ripe avocado (without the pit and skin) with an egg and then apply it to wet hair, keep it on for around 20 minutes and then rinse out. Doing this for at least once a week on damaged hair for a month and before you know it your hair will look healthy and you’ll feel a lot happier.

Olive Oil Conditioner

Go and grab the olive oil bottle from the kitchen and start keeping it in your bathroom because it’s all you need if your hair feels brittle and dry. The olive oil (just the bottles you get in food stores) can help put tons of moisture back into your hair. Warm up half a cup of olive oil (make sure it doesn’t boil as this can be extremely dangerous) and then rub into your hair. Cover the strands of hair with a plastic bag and cover again with a towel. Put on your shampoo and lather in then rinse off everything. You should keep the oil for around 45 minutes before you complete the last two steps. It’s such a cheap and easy beauty treatment that is so simple! Many beauty salons use it too, so it must be good!

Use a Natural-Bristled Brush

Synthetic brushes always pull and snag your locks which can lead to a lot of breakages, and when you’ve got dry hair already, it’s really not something you want to do doing to your hair every day (or even more than once a day!) The bristles on synthetic brushes cause static electricity that leaves your hair feeling more brittle than ever so you should always opt for a natural bristle brush, these are gentler and help to keep your hair in better condition.

Get Some Omega-3

It’s not really common knowledge but the food that you eat can impact your hair and its condition, if you suffer from dry hair then you should really be eating a diet that is rich in omega-3 fatty acids that can help to naturally produce more hair oils that will keep your hair moisturised. Foods that are high in omega-3 include egg yolks, spinach, salmon, walnuts, and tuna. If you aren’t the biggest fan of any foods that are high in omega-3 then you can go to your doctors and get a supplement which would probably be your second-best option. This is probably one of the best dry hair treatments as it allows your hair to become naturally healthy again.

Kitchen Crazy Hair Mask

Eggs are high in proteins, fats and naturally moisturise (particularly the egg yolks) whereas yoghurt (yes, the type you eat for breakfast!) can strengthen your hair from the roots and help to add the extra shine you often need. For this kitchen crazy hair mask, all you need to do is beat 2 raw eggs in a bowl, add a tablespoon of honey and two tablespoons of yoghurt then mix until you have a smooth paste. You can then apply this to the dry areas of your hair and leave it on for around 20 minutes after you’ve waited to wash it with cool water.

Beer Spray

Dry hair treatments have never been easier than picking up a can of beer from your fridge and using it as a product! We’re not crazy, it works wonders. If you weren’t aware, beer has vitamin B content which also has natural conditioning properties and can add a healthy sheen on dull hair when you really need it. Simply mix half a cup of flat beer (you can drink the rest; providing you’re of age!) and 2 cups of water then pour into a spray bottle (you can buy them from the dollar store!) and spray onto your hair after you’ve shampooed and conditioned it. After you’ve sprayed it then just allow your hair to dry naturally. By doing this once a week you should start to see a difference in your hair and it should no longer feel as dull and lifeless as before!

Home remedies have never been better, what’s the point in spending endless money on expensive products that will never work when you have most of these products in your kitchen already. So, although it’s always better to go to a beauty salon, sometimes DIYing it can be good too!

Keeping it simple, I would say I am a simple whacky kid :) whose mind is always open to learn more and more in this expanding universe. Another quality that I possess is- Even when the house is on fire, I try to keep a cool head. I have the right mix of education, creativity, organizational skills and motivation to become a competent professional. I prefer being involved in work rather than just watch it happening.
