Five Creative Ways to Light Up Your Home

Every room needs a light source, but why bother with a boring old floor or tableside lamp when you can really get creative and light up your home in a more unique way. here are so many ways you can make your home brighter these days. Especially since neon signs for the home have become so popular. All you need to do is find something that fits your house and surroundings. Here are some ideas to create some fun and practical lighting using everyday items found around your home.

Wine Bottle Chandelier

Wine lovers can take those fancy bottles and recycle them to create a stylish kitchen chandelier. Make sure you have a sturdy support base from which to hang your bottles. Carefully cut the bottoms off of the wine bottles. You will need to do this to place bulbs or candles carefully into the bottle. Attach either a chain or a sturdy reinforced electrical wire from the base to the neck of the candle to suspend it in the air.

Hat Hanging Lamp

Hats are cool, but not everyone likes to wear them. For a ritzy decoration, try turning those old hats into a unique and eye-catching hanging lamp decoration. Cut a hole at the top of the hat, attach your lamp fixture, and screw some soft white or yellow light bulbs inside. The light inside the enclosed hat will give it a soft glow which looks both classy and stylish.

Hanging Mason Jar Lamp

Why not take those boring hanging lamps and give them that little bit of country flare with a good, old-fashioned mason jar? This will require a few tools to cut or drill a hole into the top of the mason jar lid in order to attach the jar to your chosen lamp holder fittings. Glue the jar lid around the holder and screw in the light bulb. Afterwards, place your jar around the light bulb and screw it to the jar lid. For added decoration ideas, you can also add some colour by painting the outside of your mason jar before attaching it.

Skateboard Wall Mount

For those with children and teens that love to skateboard, this is a really fun way to recycle those beat up old skateboards that are no longer in use. First, clean and decorate the old skateboard in any way you wish, then thread your electrical wires through the old tracks. Lastly, remove the wheels and screw LED light bulbs in their place. You can mount your board on any wall to add some cool flare to any room.

Dixie Cup Garland

You won’t have to put all of those Christmas lights away at the end of the holidays. Use them to decorate a room or a party by making a garland using some paper Dixie Cups. Simply cut a small x-shaped hole at the bottom of your cups, the edges on the x will hold the light in place, finally stick the lights through and voila! A simple and fast light string display. There are plenty of Dixie Cup varieties with soft or fun patterns to bring colour and light to the room.

Hopefully, this list can serve as inspiration for recycling old items laying around the house to create some unique decorations for your home.
