5 Question You Need to Ask Yourself Before Participating in a Trade Show

Having a spot on any trade show is a significant investment and requires three steps in order to be a successful one: research, organization and a clear purpose.

Trade shows are a wonderful opportunity for small, medium and big entrepreneurs and companies to show their products, expose and explain their services, and attract potential customers by talking to them face to face. However, having a spot on any trade show is a significant investment and requires three steps in order to be a successful one: research, organization and a clear purpose.

Here are some questions you need to ask yourself before deciding to be a part of the next big trade show:

Why do I want to be part of this specific trade show?

Although it may be obvious to you, it is important that you set your goals and be clear with yourself and with your business partners about the benefits of participating in the trade show. As we mentioned before, research is the key to answer this: if the trade show is in Cannes, it is vital to look for exhibition stands in Cannes and see which one suits your business better and get together with the design company to discuss how you want to project your stand.

What is going to be my target?

This a major question that needs the most specific answer you can find. Trade shows are massive venues with tens of thousands of visitors (depending on how many days it lasts) but participants need to shape the profile of the people they’re targeting and figure out a plan to reeling them in. It is important to have something clear: success is not about how many people stand in front of your stand, but the number of them that are qualified buyers of your products or services.

How big my stand needs to be?

It might be appealing to have the biggest stand in the hall or even in the whole trade show, but those who can’t afford this amount of space need to know that sometimes space is not as important as a good service, a clear plan to sell your product and a meaningful approach to the potential clients. It’d be good to have a conversation with the design company that’s going to help you and study with them what would be the right amount of space your business needs

How well do I know the city and the venue?

Once again, research is it extremely important in order to get the results you want to get and know how to act if there are last minute changes. Ask for the rules of the convention center and read everything you can about the host city. It is not the same to be part of a trade show on Milan than a trade show in Barcelona. Keep that in mind…

What should I do before the trade show is over?

As you already know, be part of a trade show it a major investment and the biggest challenge comes before the show is over. It is important that you reach the clients you made within two or three days because if you don’t, your competitors will and you’ve lost all the work you did and the money you put to make this happen. Using newsletters or even your own app to send information about your products can be excellent solutions to keep your clients and make the best out of the trade show.
