Smart House: 4 Futuristic Tech Advances for the Home

Now that we’re in the age of technology, there’s literally an app for everything. More and more people are taking steps towards turning their homes into Smart Homes. Smart items generally assist you in doing things with fewer steps. Here are a few tech advances that you can take advantage of in order to make your home smarter.

Learning Thermostat

If you have a daily routine that requires you to turn your thermostat up or down at a certain time of day, this would be a great smart item for you. Learning thermostats adapt to the way that you program your temperature every day and eventually does it for you. It even knows when there is no one in the house if you go away on vacation. This way, you can save on your electric bill by not heating or cooling an empty house.

Smart Security System

Regardless of if you live alone or with family, your home needs to be safe from intruders. Some companies, like Tele-Plus, know that smart security systems will allow you to monitor your home from your smartphone and view live footage from the security cameras. They’re more affordable than using a home safety company and you can even set your alarm remotely if you forget to do it before you leave the house.

Smart Locks

This is particularly useful for people that tend to lose their keys. With smart locks, you’ll be able to open your doors by simply touching your smartphone to the keyhole. If you frequently rent out your home, it allows you to add and drop guests from the access list. You can also conveniently lock your doors from your smartphone if you happen to forget on your way out the door.

Smart TV

Most entertainment is available digitally, so instead of using multiple devices and cables to view your shows and movies, you can just invest in a smart TV. Smart TVs allow you to download apps and connect to other devices through your Wi-Fi. This is perfect for anyone that regularly uses Netflix, Hulu, or any other streaming application.

Smart homes are rising in popularity, so consider trying out of some of these devices in order to start making your home smart. Remember to keep your passwords and access codes safe and only give them to people that you absolutely trust. Just about any electronic device will eventually be capable of being controlled remotely, so keep yourself updated on new smart home features.
