Bitdefender Antivirus Plus 2017

Bitdefender Antivirus Plus 2017 offers a wide range of protection. From a single device, a smart home, a small business, hybrid infrastructure to a data center, it provides security, performance, and a remarkably user-friendly setup most will need.

With a global network of 500 million machines, this antivirus has one of the best security delivery infrastructures worldwide; accomplishing 11 billion security queries daily whilst identifying, anticipating and taking action to counter even the most recent risks globally sometimes in as little as 3 seconds.

Indeed, this security software’s primary responsibility is to guard against the riskiest e-threats without affecting your system’s speed, hence a slowdown-free performance that more obsolete programs cannot boast of. In addition, with its Autopilot on, users can relax knowing that Bitdefender’s security actions to protect their data, online dealings, and privacy is taking place in the background.

Setup, features, and protection are discussed below.

Setup

Bitdefender gives a 30-day free trial for almost all of its products. You have to create a free account to install them though. Clicking on the Trial link for Bitdefender Antivirus Plus 2017 actually installs a version of Bitdefender Internet Security. This isn’t a big deal – the major engine and interface are similar – but it does suggest you’ll get anti-spam, a firewall and a couple of other extras which aren’t in the standard Antivirus build.

Setup starts with the installer checking for incompatible security products on the system. It would demand that you uninstall for instance Password Manager, and Norton Identity Safe before it would continue. Note that at this stage there’s no ‘skip’ option to go on.

The installation process is usually straightforward. The setup program would download and install the full package, run a quick scan on our system, download an up-to-date version before it’s ready to go.

Furthermore, you will not be asked to make any configuration decisions. By default the program installs in Autopilot mode, where it takes care of most security alerts itself –you won’t even know it’s there. However, you can choose to turn off Autopilot and make most decisions yourself.

Features

Bitdefender’s main console opens with a simple summary of your security status and enables a quick scan with one click. This scan is really fast – usually 15 to 60 seconds. The program organises its other functions across numerous categories which include Protection, Privacy, Activity,  and Notifications. There’s a whole lot to explore, and although newbies won’t instantly understand what each option does, finding help and useful information is usually just a click away. For example, clicking ‘Privacy’ would show a link to ‘Create Wallet’ and so on.

In addition, Bitdefender’s antiphishing and site-blocking qualities don’t require any experience or expertise to operate. They just work. Genuine malicious sites would be blocked regardless, legitimate expert-level sites won’t be blocked and if a site is falsely flagged, there’s an option to accept the risk and visit anyway.

Likewise, the bundled Password Manager is not hard to work with. It can’t import credentials from other password managers, but it can effectively import logins stored in your Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome installations. Along with logins, it also enables saving credit card information, email account details, license keys, Wi-Fi network passwords and private data such as names, addresses, and telephone numbers.

Protection

It’s hard to determine how effective any antivirus tool may be for you because everyone has their own personal requirements and needs. Still, if you look at the verdicts of many independent testing labs you can get a great general idea of how they work.

Several third-party firms perform monthly real-world protection tests which evaluate the effectiveness of more than 20 top antivirus engines. And guess what, Bitdefender Antivirus Plus is repeatedly ranked at the top or very close to the top for any individual month. The antivirus has also received AV Comparatives’ top Advanced+ rating every year since 2014.
