5 Ways to Enhance Your Cell Phone Signal

In a world that relies heavily on technology and uninterrupted connectivity, there’s simply no room for a weak cell phone signal. These days, the average cell phone bill ranges from $60 all the way up to $250 and beyond. For these high monthly prices, subpar service is unacceptable. If you’re tired of weak/dropped phone calls and seeing 1-2 bars of signal every time you use your phone, this is the guide for you! These are five ways to enhance your cell phone signal.

Turn On Wi-Fi Calling

Wi-Fi calling is a new feature included on most models of smartphones that allow users to place phone calls via a wireless network rather than a phone network signal. This feature is useful in cases where minutes/data are limited, or when there is poor cell signal in the area. Wi-Fi calling can be turned on in the Settings app for your phone.

Free Your Phone’s Antenna

Sometimes when a smartphone is held horizontally or sideways, the hand has a higher chance of creating interference and blocking a signal from the internal antenna. This problem can be made even worse if there is a bulky case on the phone. Keep a lightweight, sturdy case on your phone, and hold it in an upright, vertical position as much as possible.

Decrease Obstructions

All day long as your phone remains powered on, it is constantly communicating back and forth with the nearest cell phone tower. Most of these communications are quick and successful, but sometimes interference can happen due to obstructions. A number of things can cause cell phone interference including natural landscape, concrete, metals, other electronics, weather conditions, etc. You can cut down on interference by staying as close to outdoors as possible when using the phone, getting to a high position, clearing your home of unneeded clutter, etc.

Keep Your Smartphone Charged

Certain tasks can deplete a cell phone’s battery in just a short number of hours. If your phone is running low on battery for any reason, it may have trouble drawing power to maintain a strong, consistent connection to the provider’s network. You can dramatically save battery power by toning down the phone’s brightness, disabling features such as Bluetooth, frequently closing apps running in the background, disabling notifications for unnecessary apps, etc.

Use a Cell Signal Booster

Cell signal boosters are designed to detect phone provider signals and boost them so that devices in the vicinity can have better reception. This option is ideal for when multiple cell phones in an area or household are having trouble obtaining a provider signal. Like home Wi-Fi network extenders, a cell signal booster can turn a weak signal into a bold, 5-barred one!
