The Top 5 Greatest Sci-Fi Games

As the console war rages on, and the infamous PC master race continues to evolve the wealth of games being released is incredible, from FPS, RPG’s, online slots and more. With 1/3rd of the year already down, let’s celebrate 5 of the greatest games from the Sci-Fi genre.

Portal 2

Developed by Valve and following directly on from 2007’s critically acclaimed Portal, Portal 2 is often considered one of the greatest games ever made. It’s puzzle solving, graphics and sense of humor earned it a wealth of positive reviews, and it featured the incredible voice talents of actors Stephen Merchant and J K Simmons.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

Directly following on from 2011’s Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Mankind Divided takes on the story of agent Adam Jensen. Two years after the “Aug Incident” and the events that the previous game focused on, Jensen is tasked with unveiling a conspiracy and investigating his own organization.

Half Life

Often the hot topic of many conversations, Half-Life changed the game with regards to video games as a whole, and especially the Sci-Fi genre. Released in 1998 and developed by the now infamous Valve Corporation in 1998 exclusively for Microsoft, Half-Life is considered by many to be one of, if not the greatest video game of all time. It follows the story of the scientist and central protagonist Gordon Freeman, who escapes Black Mesa after an experiment goes dangerously wrong. The game sold over 10 million copies and spawned a much-loved sequel in 2004.

Fallout 4

Fallout 4 was both a critical and commercial success, earning an incredible $750 million within its first 24 hours, leaving its competitors in the dust. Developed by Bethesda Softworks in Bethesda, Maryland, the game is set a decade after the events of Fallout 3. After a nuclear holocaust, the players emerges from cryogenic sleep in an underground nuclear vault over two hundred years after the event.

Halo: Combat Evolved

Halo: Combat Evolved (often referred to simply as Halo 1) was an FPS game developed by Bungie Studios and published by Microsoft in 2001. The game completely redefined video games with its next level graphics, online mode, and gameplay mechanics. It has since spawned sequels, spin-offs, and even a live-action film, as well as a host of merchandise and well-earned fans.
