How Drones Are Being Used In Business

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) or Drones in business, the very thought has fascinated many entrepreneurs and hobbyists alike. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) had released the rules on June 21.2016. These rules known as “Part 107” came into effect on August 29.  Many entrepreneurs have launched their drone-base ventures lately.

The Regulatory Landscape

The new regulations have simplified the process to own and operate a drone for commercial purposes. The drone operations have been steadily growing after the new rules, and the business owners have welcomed the changes.

Now it no longer requires a commercial pilot license to fly a drone. It means you can fly drone that is less than 55 pounds, within the eyesight of a certified “remote pilot in command” operating at a maximum altitude of 400 feet. As the getting the certificate for the remote pilot in command is not difficult and any adult can get it easily at a very less cost. It has opened many opportunities for the use of drones in the businesses.

Using Drones In Business

Many companies have used drones for mapping, videos and photography, marketing and otherwise. They have wider applications from agriculture to environment monitoring. While using them, the only limitation is your imagination. It is believed that their technological impact will be similar to the internet. They will make many jobs safer and will do what is considered as risky for humans. Let’s explore how businesses are making the best use of them:

Accessing Internet

The leading internet giants are making the best use of them to bring the internet to the developing world. Facebook recently acquired solar drone company Titan Aerospace, and it plans to use the UAVs for internet connectivity. Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Facebook plans to internet access to the world with Aquila drone.

It is believed that the fleet of Aquila’s will fly together thousands of feet above the ground and will communicate with each other using Lasers. Others like Google & Amazon are in the fray and plane to use a drone to improve the customer experience.

Media

This industry, especially the smaller players are going to benefit tremendously from the usage of the drones. Earlier, only larger corporations were able to take aerial shots using the news helicopter, now the smaller players can also capture the aerial footage for news coverage. The drones can easily travel to those areas where helicopters can’t. The tasks of face-to-face recording interview can be done more efficiently with drone hovering nearby.

Delivery

This mode of delivery is picking up. As of now the maximum load which can be carried by a drone is 55pounds (It includes the weight of the drone as well).  As the technology matures, the goods will be delivered directly to your door using drones. And they will be even more useful in those areas where traveling with the road is more difficult.

Architecture

Can you imagine using drones for architecture? Sometime back none, but many architectural firms are using drones for photos and videography. The cheap and quickly created aerial shots can help the architects in rendering the designs that are world-class. Besides, the 3D models of the structures can help them comprehend how the building will look like.

Environmental Monitoring & Conservation

The drone technology can be used to monitor ecological environments closely. They are being used to track animal populations without disturbing them much. It helps in conservation efforts, migration tracking, and habitat management as well.

CAARMA Drone program is one of the many programs which help businesses with drones meant for supporting various specific needs.
