Trends in Hotel Website Design for 2017

website design

Nothing is permanent in this world and same is the case with hotel web design. With new devices, development in technology and ways to access the World Wide Web there also is a change in the way websites are designed. And with the introduction of dynamic content and the way customers interact with web businesses all of this makes hotel web design more challenging and dynamic. Although the hospitality industry has been relatively slow to other web businesses in evolving, they have vastly improved their digital presence and offer a more user-friendly experience to users, all of which has lead to an increase in direct bookings.

Some of the trends in website design for hotels to look forward to in 2017 are as follows:

Shift to minimalism: While minimalism in designing is not something new it has been around fro quite some time, it will pick up this year and continue in the coming period. Having a minimalistic design means removing all superfluous content, making it clutter free and adopting a chic but clean and simple design. All of this is done with a view to better engage customers and make navigation at the website a seamless experience. This will go a long way in reducing bounce rates substantially!  Having an elegant distraction-free homepage design which conveys only the necessary information is what you can look forward to this year.

Make images convey a message:  With a rise in mobile bookings, it has lead to a considerable change in online communication. As the screens are smaller in size the type of images we use online to portray a brand image has become extremely important. And for the hotel industry is has meant a vast change with no longer just showing cool property photos! It is now more about having carefully chosen images that convey a message and strike a chord with guests.  It is no longer anymore about the amenities on offer but rather the complete experience of staying there. That would mean not just showing pictures of the property but also including images of surrounding attractions as well.

Mobile specific design: With an increase in the use of smartphones and it becoming the preferred mode of making hotel bookings, having a mobile-friendly website is mandatory. And this has received a fillip with Google having announced that they would give more prominence to mobile-friendly websites in web search results.  As a result, you can expect hotels this year to take it further from just mobile friendly to mobile specific! That means the hotel web design will be created keeping both the size of the screen and user context in mind.
