Decorate Your Home Without Breaking the Bank

Does decorating your home need to cost a fortune? Here’s how to do it for cheap.

Decorating your home always seems like a fun idea until it’s time to start paying for all the additions you want.

Most of us have been in this situation: you find the perfect addition to your home, but as soon as you look at the price your stomach drops knowing that you can’t buy it yet.

You want your home or apartment to look nice so you can have people over, but how do you do it without breaking the bank?

Thankfully, there are options out there to upgrade your home that can give it that fresh look without going into debt.

Buy furniture used or from a flea market

You would be surprised at how great of deals you can find from stores like Goodwill or just walking around your local flea market.

There are many bloggers, like this one, who share their best flea market tips. When you know what to look for, you can save a ton of money.

The best part about shopping at any of these types of places is that you’ll find unique items you won’t find in the mainstream stores. A huge part of decorating is finding a style that is uniquely your own, and buying unique pieces can help you find your own look.

Buy items wholesale

Buying wholesale items can upgrade your home without costing an arm and a leg.

When was the last time you tried to buy a mattress protector to spruce up your bedroom? In some stores, they can run anywhere from $50 to over $400. Whereas if you shop with a wholesale store, you can find them for under $20 each.

Even couches can range anywhere from a few hundred dollars to a couple thousand. That can make a huge difference when you’re working with a small budget.

Paint your walls

It’s amazing what little changes here and there can do to the feel of a room.

One way to get an instant change is to paint the walls a new color. If you don’t know how to pick the right color for a room, this guide from HGTV will help. An average gallon of paint costs around $30 and with just a small investment of money and time you have what feels like a whole new room.
