How to Take Your Online Marketing Efforts to the Next Level

The Internet offers a vast array of marketing options for small businesses. Through the web, everything is easier to find—including potential clients. Getting these people to interact is a different matter, and many business owners find themselves facing the question: How do I get to the next level? What is the next level, anyway?

Some tried-and-true marketing strategies have been so overused, visitors are unlikely to fall for them anymore. They know what’s going on and don’t want to feel like pieces in a game. To break that barrier, business owners must remember the Internet is a social place. With that in mind, how can we stop being billboards and get people to trust us?

Looking at the big picture, we see the greatest challenge is connecting. You might get thousands of page views, but how many visitors will actually buy your product? With so many sites to choose from, they’re just as likely to click away and find a place they connect with. These are my four suggestions for connecting with customers. They should be simple to apply, if we remember our target audiences are always people with unique problems and thought processes.

Make Products that Solve Problems

People are tired of having advertisements flashed at them from all directions; they’re unlikely to click on an ad in the sidebar. The next level of marketing should be to gain client trust. Visitors want to know your business is concerned for their well-being. A client needs to be won over before deals can be made, because people don’t like wasting time on companies lacking personality. It’s important to let them know you’re not only after money: whatever you’re offering needs to be relevant to potential buyers. Most ads aren’t personal enough for readers to sense we’re working for them. If visitors realize your company means to help, they’re more likely to buy from you.

Interact with Visitors

Humans are social by nature, so encouraging interaction shouldn’t be difficult. However, many marketers tend to go about it the wrong way. It’s not enough to retweet things: people notice when they’re being treated like numbers. Instead, approach your audience as if they were friends. Ask for input on your next product (feedback is also valuable for market growth!) Create polls for customers to opine and send out free samples. This way they will know you’re more than a computer screen, and their help is needed for your business to grow. It’s more effective than having them watch from the sidelines. You’ll be surprised how many loyal customers like to help!

Get Your Name Out There

Good companies are in tune with what’s going on in the world. A few posts about trending topics on your blog or social media accounts will help more than you think! Get involved so followers know you’re aware of what matters to them. Consider initiating a Pay-per-click campaign to help your site be seen by potential visitors. With the help of an SEO firm’s white label PPC offering (which you can learn more about at https://multifuse.com/white-label-ppc/) you won’t have to take on the expense of hiring additional employees to run your PPC campaign.

Go Behind-The-Scenes

People like knowing how things work. How do photographers find the perfect spot to capture a sunset? What’s their preferred lens for recording that moment? Which brand of pencil is used to draw a masterpiece? Showing your workplace helps customers know you and your employees are human; it also inspires them to know they are giving their business to a hard-working and transparent institution.

Once you take the steps necessary to form relationships, more people will want to buy your product. In the end, many customers are attracted to humanity and a sense of reciprocity—so make sure you focus on these to become a business people trust.
