5 Reasons Your Smartphone is Better Than a Stone

Have you imagined how terrible life in the Stone Age was? Just think about it: no drinkable tap water, no free WiFi and the only Pebble you could stare at is, well, actually a pebble.

Just like our lives revolve around smartphones, life back in the days of woolly mammoths revolved around stones.

Let’s compare the two and see which one brings more daily comforts.

Weight

If we compare the weight of a slab of granite that copies a newly released HTC A9 Aero in it’s dimensions, a gadget will have the edge weighing only 143 grams, while the stone will clock in at 202.2 grams. Clearly less weight in your pocket, right?

Durability

The stone clearly wins this one, as rocks are not known to be subjects of various bendgates, and they rarely shatter upon landing on the cave floor. They don’t need sapphire or Gorilla 3 glass and most of them are IP67, excluding pumicestone, of course.

Making calls

The only mention that a stone gets regarding calls is “interrupting the mating call of a goat with a stone”. The reception is near zero, but on the other hand you call expenses are about the same and you can get away without spending a dime a month. A modern smartphone is a clear winner here, as some of the models are advertised to have 128 hours of talk time, which is 5.3 days of non-stop blathering.

Taking pictures

While most of modern devices have decent cameras and we can capture life around us, the only way to capture it with a stone is cave art. It doesn’t need backing up, but it’s so much harder to share with your friends.

Flashlight

Sometimes you want that darkest, scariest corner of your cave to be brightly lit, but starting a fire is a lengthy process. Smartphone will surely come to the rescue in no time, which is nearly impossible if you have a stone in your hand (glow-in-the-dark pebbles notwithstanding).

As you can see, science is really awesome and its progress has endowed us with impressive features right at our fingertips. Make sure to use them right and for good!
