The Three Best Ways to Use Google Street View

Google Street View was a great idea. Its introduction offered us the perfect tool for finding destinations, meaning that we would always know exactly where we were going before we got there. No more arriving in less than desirable neighbors with our best Michael Kors watch on our wrists, or an expensive new iPhone glinting in our hands. No more walking up to the wrong door and finding ourselves greeted by an unfamiliar face.

As much as its primary purpose has proved its worth, however, there are lots of other great uses that the tech-savvy have discovered. Virtual joyriding might have become the most mainstream of them, but here are three other handy Google Street View hacks that you ought to know about: –

Check-out Your New Neighborhood Before You Move There

Viewing a property is meant to tell you all that you need to know about an area, but we all recognize that first appearances can be deceptive. A neighborhood can look like an idyllic haven of suburbia, but if you don’t know about that young offenders institute tucked three blocks away, then it might not be quite as rosy as it first appears. One of the best ways to really gauge what an area is like is to take a virtual tour around it, familiarizing yourself with the local amenities, residents, and transport links. If you need to know all of the dirt, then there’s no better way to uncover it than walking the streets (figuratively, at least).

Check-out Parking and Transport Links Before You Visit

Another of Street View’s myriad uses is the ability to check parking and transport links before you travel somewhere. It’s all well and good for your potential employer to say that your new workplace is a five-minute bus ride away, but finding that it’s closer to half an hour on the morning of your interview won’t go down well. If you want to know where the nearest parking spot is when you’re visiting a restaurant, or how long it will take you to travel from the town center to your home with all of your Christmas shopping in tow, then use Street View to scout your journey out before you go.

Search for Nearby Amenities

Last but not least, don’t forget to use it to check out your local area and its amenities. No query is too small or too complex for Street View, which is perfectly equipped to help you find anything that you desire. Whether you’re in search of the nearest toilet whilst you’re stranded in town, or you want to look for a new car, Street View is sure to have the answer that you need.
