Retirement Apps That Can Make You Rich

By now, there are few if any people out there who aren’t aware that they should be planning ahead for the future, specifically for their retirement. It’s generally considered a bad idea to pin all of your hopes on Social Security; it pays to have savings, 401K and IRA plans, investments, and whatever else you can leverage for your golden years.

But there’s a big difference between retiring with a modest means to keep you afloat, and retiring with wealth to spare. Clearly, anyone who wants the latter needs a little help to accomplish it. Fortunately, there are a host of apps out there that can help you retire in a very well off manner. Take a look at these four and put them to good use. They just may be the first step towards a rich retirement for you.

Retiring well off? Yes, there’s an app for that!

iMaximize Social Security

Although there’s already been an admonition about not relying on Social Security, it still needs to be taken into consideration as a factor in retirement. One thing you need to be careful of when you’re collecting Social Security is that if you’re earning money when you collect benefits, you may need to actually return money to the SSA.

This calculator app, the basic version which is free for online, Android, and iOS, helps you take full advantage of your maximum allowable Social Security benefits, based on your own individual situation. While no one has gotten rich collecting Social Security, the smart retiree does his or her best to get everything that’s coming to them.

Retirement Calculator

Here’s a good, straightforward, free retirement calculator that serves as a valuable tool to help you decide when to retire and what sort of life you can expect. Just enter your desired retirement age, how much your home and property is worth, any available insurance policies and pensions, your income and assets, and of course your expenses and debts.

The Retirement Calculator will show you how to set up your financial goals in order to enjoy your retirement. It even factors in things like health care affordability (and let’s face it, that’s a significant inevitability!), how long your savings will last, and whether or not you can keep the standard of living that you want.

It’s better to get an idea of what you’re up against early on, so you can prepare for it. Remember, the goal is to retire rich, not struggling.

Retirement Planner

This is a free app from Swiftmatic LLC that is very valuable if you have an IRA or a 401K. This Android app helps you compare between different investment options such as the traditional IRA, 401K, and Roth 401K. With this app, you can track how much your employer contributions are accumulating, in addition to figuring out how much you’re saving because of spending reductions. Retirement Planner also helps protect you from nasty surprises, since it can forecast whether your current investment plan will result in a surplus or will come up short.

Vanguard Retirement Nest Egg Calculator

Finally, for all of those smart people who have a nest egg that they’re working on, here’s an Android app that can make financial management an easier proposition. All you need to do is input a half-dozen variables to this free online app, and you will see how long your investments will last. The app factors in things like your nest egg’s composition (cash, stocks, bonds), how long it’s supposed to last, any money you are spending from it at present, and what the current balance is. The calculator will help you see whether or not that nest egg could use some bolstering.

These apps (and there’s a lot more like them out there!) can help remove some of the guesswork of retirement and get you on your way to retiring rich. For another perspective on retirement packages, why not check out “Online Business: The New Retirement Package”?
