Valentine’s Day Apps That Show You Care

In terms of relationships, is there any holiday that’s more of an emotional minefield than Valentine’s Day? No. No there isn’t. Do you make a fuss? Do you not make a fuss? Do you both decide to skip observing it, then one cheats and gives the other something, only to be angry that the other party didn’t do it, against all logic?

Want to show you’re romantic? There’s an app for that!

People who aren’t in a relationship say they hate Valentine’s Day for the obvious reason. Well, if you’re in a relationship, you both darn well better be on the same page, or you’ll have your own personal St. Valentine’s Day Massacre on your hands. Fortunately, our app-happy culture has come up with some great apps for OS or Android, to help show that you care.

Wish Your Valentine (Android)

Send your valentine some e-flowers with a personalized message. The app also provides you with tips on how to make a great impression on the special day, as well as inspirational quotes, and a compatibility test. And the beauty of these flowers is that they don’t shrivel up and die!

FourSquare (Android)

Yes, this app’s been around, but it can help you search for great places to go on a Valentine’s Day date, be it a cinema, restaurant, or, if you’re really going all out, a hotel. If you’re lucky, you may run into a FourSquare campaign that provides you with some savings.

Valentine’s Day Recipes (iOS)

Preparing a special Valentine’s Day for the object of your affection is an awesome, considerate gift that is all the more special because you personally put it together yourself (it’s also cheaper than going out!). Valentine’s Day Recipes is an app for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch that gives you over 140 recipes, rendered in step by step instructions, for everything from drinks to desserts.

Living Social (iOS)

What’s a deal of the day site have to do with Valentine’s Day? Why, everything! This app, optimized for the iPhone 5, can set you up with some amazing deals that can save you tons of money for that special Valentine’s Day dinner, spa visit, hotel stay, and more! Sometimes, Living Social offers deals for less conventional outings, certain to make for a unique and unforgettable date!

All Platforms

And here are some apps that are compatible with both platforms, and just the thing for mobile computing. Of course, if you don’t have a tablet yet, you could always consider one of these hot new models.

The Walking Dead Valentine’s Day App

Nothing says “I love you” quite like a shambling flesh-eating zombie. Well, to be precise, they say “Uhhrhrhrhr!”, but their heart is in the right place (assuming it hasn’t fallen out of their rib cage a mile back). This awesome app lets you send your loved one a picture of a walker, linked with romantic phrases that you can select. Just the thing to give that special someone before stepping out for a Valentine’s Day bite.

Valentine RADIO

Music is a key element in setting the right mood. This app aggregates a selection of radio stations that feature romantic music, and bundles them together in a convenient app to be played when you want to set the mood.

This should be a good start to making your Valentine’s Day a truly special one. Enjoy!

If you are an iOS user, Apple has listed out so many apps in a different category called “Valentines”. More than 20 useful apps and they are awesome 🙂

It seems to be more acceptable to use mobile and social apps to express your love nowadays. It’s a great way to let another person know you’re thinking of him/her. The use of the apps also indicates that you at least put some time and thought into the situation.

It’s alot of fun to say hello and even to send something like a Valentine on social media sites. The problem is that it is a public place and I think we often forgt that. Not only do we post feelings that are really private, the sites themselves become a public place where score is kept. How many people love you? How many people thought you looked good in a picture or made smart comments. Did you send your partner a Valentine online? Did anyone send you one? I think the public scorekeeping can be pretty hurtful.

Ah, but most of these apps are private. But yes, there is no need for public scorekeeping.
