It would be easier to obtain the files this way and the hard drive would not dissipate since it is attached to the one the computer is using. Then the external hard drive would not be wasted.

Another way to save the external hard drive is to buy a new casing. There is a possibility that the USB port is faulty and is not able to transmit power and files to the main device, like a computer. It is possible to get a hold of a suitable enclosure for the hard drive. One would be able to connect the USB port with the hard drive inside a new external hard drive case.

  2. Hey someone borrowed my Hard disk for some moment and when I got it back it had many shortcuts created into it.I think it is any kind of virus and and antivirus are not helping.What to do?

      As long as your PC can still read the drive, I think it’s strill good to go. You just have to reformat the drive.As you said, antivirus is not helping. I just hope you have back ups of the files you have there. 🙂
