Why Is the iOS Ahead of Android?

When Apple announced that it would be updating its operating system with the release of the iOS 6, everyone got excited. The update was showcased during the WWDC conference in June and as expected, it immediately created a lot of buzz that had everyone on their toes. The highlights and new features got the developers excited so much, along with the rest of the loyal fanboys and fangirls of the Cupertino firm.

Unfortunately for those who have older Apple devices, the update only included the recent releases, and the oldest unit included in this update was the iPhone 3GS. So, owners who are still holding on to their iPhone 2 should really just surrender their units and get upgraded. It is the perfect time to give your old iPad models and accessories like the iPad charging station if you still have it so you can get yourself the newest model and update to the iOS 6 as well.

Of course, the new features have made people, particularly owners of iDevices, excited to upgrade to this new version of the operating system. You may be able to compare the new version with Android’€™s Jelly Bean update, but since not a lot of devices already have this, you can say that the iOS 6 still heads the pack.

Siri is the most popular among the updates that have been introduced and with the iOS 6, it can now do more. Siri can now tell you more information about your favorite team sports, local movie schedules, flight details, and a host of other pertinent information you would find useful. In a sense, Siri has become more interactive and useful. If you ask those who sell accessories like the iPad charging station, they would tell you that Siri has graduated from its beta version and is now packed with more power for users to enjoy. You can now find Siri more entertaining as well.

The Do Not Disturb is another feature that many would find helpful with the iOS 6 update. You can filter calls and messages so that you won’t be disturbed, especially if you are in the middle of a class, meeting, or if you just want to have uninterrupted rest.

Passbook is another new feature found on the iOS 6 update. Having a Passbook would be helpful as you can store tickets, airline passes, loyalty cards, and the like on your mobile device. This would make your wallet a lot more organized as you do not have to keep on bringing all those plastic cards and small pieces of paper with you.

With all these new features, can we say that the iOS system is miles ahead of Android? Based on these new features, we can say that even though Jelly Bean has put up a great fight, the iOS 6 set itself as the new standard once again. The improved Siri alone makes it worth upgrading to the new operating system. You can go to the stores that sell accessories like the iPad charging station if you need help in upgrading to the latest iOS 6. Of course, you need an Apple device to enjoy this OS.

      Dear Pramod,
Thanks for reading the article! I just hope Apple doesn’t get too exclusive with iOS though. If they keep up with the attitude, there’s no doubt Android will keep on defeating them.

I was using this thing called hyperbole, it’s what the kids use to exaggerate a point. andd I never said iOS doesn’t have any features, I might think that since all the features included on an iDevice is rather standard smartphone afair, they finally added a “feature” the fingerprint scanner, which isn’t even a fingerprint scanner, it’s a biometric reader. Nor did I think Google invented everything. The biggest players in my opinion in the phone market are Motorola, Nokia, Palm, MS, Sony Ericsson . Motorola, for practically inventing cellphones; Nokia for improving them as much as they did in the beginning and introducing games to the Cellphone market (I love you snake); Palm, for being one of the first major smartphone OS; Microsoft; for taking it a step further; and Sony Ericsson for making one of the first compact phones (startek).

      Dear daksh,
But it is also undeniable that there are still so many Apple die-hards out there, right?

I think that taking a look at the image from article you are referring to the IOS 7 and not IOS 6 .

I don’t like the IOS because you can’t personalize it as much as you like. Android allows you to make it more personal, to be a reflection of your ideas. Also I hate that you need the ITUNES to put a track on your phone rather than drag and drop it on the phone memory …

Why would i would like to have a device that has a bluetooth that works only with the same brand of device ?

      Hi, Dan!

Yes, that image is iOS 7, indeed. Seems Apple has been very busy with updating their OS, no?

Well, that exclusivity thing is very Apple, right?

        Hi Heather,
Yes Apple was very busy updating their OS, but the updates that they have made it are not impressive. All the features that they have added in IOS 7 are not an innovation. Take a look at Android or Windows Phone, those features are already in those operating systems almost from the beginning of the system.

Apple takes out IOS 7 and bang they are saying that they invented the wheel, but we all know that is not true, the wheel already existed.

There are some images on 9Gag that compare IOS 7 features with Android and 80% of the new implementations are already in Android.

So my question is: where is the innovation in IOS 7 and Iphone 5?

Do we need a finger scanner in our phones? Do we need x64 processors in our phones ? Does a call sounds differently when talking to a phone with finger scanner or x64 processor than a normal smartphone ?

        Cheers

          Hi, Dan!

I somehow agree, which is why I stopped with iOS 6. I even have a friend who remarked that the iOS 7 interfaces look like a child’s coloring book! I do have a feeling that Android will be moving way ahead come KitKat, especially once a ton of phones (esp. Samsung, which seems to be killing iPhones) will adapt to it. 🙂

The new IOS 7 looks like a hippy operating system. I like the colored interface but as i said in my previous comments it doesn’t impress me much. This is why i don’t understand why people are willing to pay a lot of money for a smartphone when there are cheaper alternatives on market.

I think that Google will try to repair the problems that they have with Android 4.3 and make some improvements in the new Kit Kat version but if those changes will not be visible for the public I’m afraid that they will have a low adoption rate.

Changing some colors in the new Kit Kat will not help them to attract more users. They will have to improve the interface and interaction with the user. Also they have to improve the battery consumption and lower the resources needed to properly run Android.

          Hi, Dan!
Yes, The sophistication of the interface is somewhat lost on the iOS 7. I’m thinking Andorid 4.3 will be red and white themed? Will it be a tie-in with Nestle? We’ll wait and see.

The next Android version is not 4.3. The next version is 5 and it’s called Kit – Kat .

This article and it’s previous comments are obvious plants by a rather dense troll.

Was the primary intention just to cause those in the know to roll their eyes endlessly or was this pre-orchestrated to brainwash and lead astray more sheep to the inferior android camp?

My company of 9,600 employees will choose the stability and security that is flawlessly provided by Apple iOS over run of the mill mall kiosk mobile platforms.

Could those 9600 employees accepted the IOS devices because company gave them for free 🙂 ??

As you may have read in the article, I am actually all for iOS6. iOS 7… not that much.

Isn’t it clear for you all already? You are tracked and listened everyday. It isn’t a matter of whether you like it or not or whether you want it them to stop doing it. The question is, who do you want to be following you:

    Sony’s hackers
    NSA
    Apple’s app control team
    Anonymous and their varieties
    Some Asian hackers
    Nigerian phishers/scammers
    your mom
    the guy fixing your computer

I was an iPhone user before and I didn’t like it for you need the ITUNES to put a track on your phone rather than drag and drop it on the phone memory just like in Android..
