Can the New iPhone 5S Help or Hurt Your Relationship?

Apple has recently announced the newest version of the iPhone that will be released at the end of September. While the newly announced iPhone 5S is expected to feature a better battery life and faster processor, that is not the main feature that has got everyone’s attention since the phone’s announcement. The most talked about feature is actually the phone’s lock system that requires a fingerprint from the owner to open up the phone. While it probably was not Apple’s intentions when creating the fingerprint sensor, this may actually have a major effect on many relationships.

Positive Effects on Relationships

Jealous men and women have been known to snoop through their significant other’s smartphone while they are sleeping or not in the room to make sure that are not doing anything they should not be. The new Touch ID option in the iPhone 5S can virtually eliminate any chance of snooping on smartphones. Relationships have been breaking up regularly because of a jealous partner seeing something they did not like while snooping on the smartphone of their significant other. While this is certainly going to help a lot of relationships, it could also have a negative effect on a working relationship.

Negative Effects on Relationships

If you have nothing to hide, then it may actually be a good thing that your partner snoops in your phone. They would lose all of their suspicions after looking through the phone and then you can go along with your relationship normally. This means that the people that are going to benefit from the Touch ID fingerprint sensor are mainly going to be people that are doing things they should not be doing while in a relationship.

There is a lot of potential for the Touch ID fingerprint sensor to harm relationships when both partners are being faithful. If either member of the relationship has the Touch ID fingerprint sensor enabled on their phone, then this could spark suspicion in the other partner that would not have been their without the new feature. A fight could easily arise when one partner wonders why the other partner needs to turn on the Touch ID fingerprint sensor if they have nothing to hide.

The new Touch ID sensor is certainly one of the most impressive features on any smartphone on the market today, so it should certainly help drive sales of the new iPhone 5S higher than they were already going to be. Many people have gone to Twitter to rejoice that their relationship will be saved because of the new feature, but there is also the potential of the opposite happening. The phone’s effect on relationships will definitely be something to watch out for once the iPhone 5S hits stores in late September.

  1. LoL…Nice Post here, I’m sure a Smartphone from Apple like this will never ruin my relationship, no matter how smart it is. I also have the review and specs of iPhone 5S on my blog though. Thanks

  2. Personally I think the fingerprint sensor is going to have more negative effect on a relationship than positive. It will raise suspicion a lot more…
