Top IT Trends for 2013

2013

The last decade has seen some of the most important developments in the history of technology. These very same developments are what drive IT trends for 2013. The way technology affects and improves our way of life is evident in our cars, in our homes and even in social spaces.

The Year Tablet Computing Becomes A Phenomenon

The tablet has been around for quite some time now, popularized by Apple when they introduced the very first Apple iPad a few years ago but 2013 proves to be the year tablet computing will be a riveting success. The tablet computer has become one of the most significant devices not only for personal use but even for business use as well. With great operating systems like iOS, Android and Windows, it won’t come as complete surprise if ever these tablets eventually take the place of laptops and desktop computers entirely.

The electronic market is now prepared to take on a device that is able to do what a smartphone and desktop computer can, from streaming media to worksheets and even placing VoIP phone calls.

Hardware manufacturers are warming up their machines in preparation for the creation of a powerful device that is the ultimate realization of any gadget geek’€™s dream. 2013 may actually be the year when tablets become the only computers people will be required and compelled to use.

A Great Year For App Development

Apple transformed the world when they first launched the App Store. With over a million of apps available, it gave the user the chance to pick from a variety of software choices and abolished the need for many people to buy and conform to bulky software suites. Since there is clamor for open source mentality and strictly controlled application stores are somewhat on the losing end of this competition, it has proven to be an exciting time for users because it is today that the software development industry is at its peak. It is actually a sign that the market has fully matured because finally, application development is now driven by consumer demands rather than what tech companies believe the users want.

Social Media In Full Bloom

Although many will claim that social media is putting an end to significant and valuable ways of communication, Web 2.0 proves to be resilient and thriving. What the future brings is TVs incorporating more social media aspects to their software and websites becoming more social-centric. Social media has undeniably impacted all the major aspects of technology, from smartphones and computers to search engines. It has changed the lives of people in an irreversible manner that they are compelled to adapt to it since it seems to be something that they cannot escape. Its virtual claws have already gone too deep. Even bigger corporations now find themselves venturing into social media in order to establish their online presence. Because what’€™s a business got to do? Online’s where most people are so online’s where they should go. Fortunately, there are lots of social media networks they can utilize to their advantage. No wonder advertising and marketing via social media platforms have become a popular trend this year.

Video Game Consoles Survive

It may seem like mobile games are trampling over video game consoles for so many reasons but it looks like 2013 will be an exciting and truly fruitful year not only for video console companies but for video game fans as well.  Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo are continuously working on improving their game consoles in order to change and improve the way people look at gaming. With the help of open source development and Android OS, it appears that gamers from all over the world will soon be able to get their hands on cheap yet high quality games.

I still don’t have a tablet and I agree that social media gets more and more massive and influencing. Also with computer games real communication is less frequently met.
