Social-Media Marketing – 5 Common Mistakes To Avoid

Social-media marketing is creating a great buzz in the online world. Gone are the days when certain sites like Facebook, Google Plus, Twitter, MySpace and Instagram were only used as ways of connecting with friends. Today, organizations all over the world have realized the true potential of these sites and are using them for promoting their business. Employing the right social-media strategies can prove to be a perfect way for businesses to reach out to their target market and reap in excellent rewards in the form of increasing sales and profits. However, bad social-media efforts can not only create a huge dent in the reputation of a business, but also drive away prospective customers.

So, if you are employing social-media tools for marketing, how might you be hurting your business rather than climbing the pillar of success? Here are eight social-media mistakes you should avoid so as to take your business to another level:

Respond To Your Followers

You must address all the comments of your followers or customers’€™ post about your firm’s product and services. It does not matter at all whether the comments are positive or negative, you must answer them all. Never delete the negative reviews, respond to them quickly, even if it means emailing or calling unsatisfied customers directly. This will put your company in a better light as quick responses are often appreciated by customers and who knows your critics may go on to become your most loyal fans.

Avoid Too Much Of Sales Approach

While the ultimate goal of your social-media management campaign may be to sell the products or services, if every post sounds like a sales pitch, then users will eventually get annoyed and that is not good news for your business. Visitors may also be turned off if every time they browse your site you just have nothing to say except bragging about your products and services. You should devote your attention on creating a perfect amalgamation of sales and information. Nowadays, people also look forward to acquainting themselves with some knowledge while simultaneously purchase some things, but too much of the “buy me” approach can hinder your business growth.

Devote Some Time To Your Marketing Campaign

It is imperative that you must find some free time from your busy schedule and allocate it to your marketing campaign and set the limits. For instance, you must set the number of updates to be posted per day on various social-networking websites on a regular basis. It absolutely does not make any kind of sense at all to create a social-media account and you cannot allocate enough time to post anything on it. To solve this problem, you can use the help of professional social-media consultants that can assist you in enhancing the effectiveness of your campaign, which in turn helps a great deal in achieving organizational goals in a hassle-free manner.

Do Not Neglect The Statistics

There are certain social-media websites that provide comprehensive analytics and reports about page views, visitor traffic, number of shares and likes and lots of other prominent things. Ignoring these reports will only add to your problems as you will not be able to know how many users are actually interested in your products or which posts have been read the most.

Proofread The Posts

While posting content, it is important that you should proofread the posts as any incorrect spelling and grammatical mistakes may make your business sound unprofessional. Always read the posts twice before posting on social-media sites. If you have delegated the responsibility of updating the site to your colleagues or consultants, then make sure they do not post anything with glaring errors that can impact the credibility of the business. It is better to be safe than sorry.

Conclusion

Social-media marketing is not a magic wand where you can hope to get instant results overnight just by updating posts. It generally takes time, so it is vital to chalk out a plan and devote some time to it. Do it in the right manner and get great dividends in the form of increase in sale leads, profits plus new and repeat customers.

I agree in the most part but responding to all followers can be near impossible. I have 82,000 followers on Twitter and must receive about 20 tweets a day asking me how I am or what the weather is like.

I don’t respond to anything like that.
