How To Use WordPress For Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing involves promoting someone else’s products or services, and earning a commission whenever you generate a lead or make a sale. Such programs usually offer affiliates ready-made promotional materials, thus facilitating convenient promotion of affiliate products. WordPress is a content management system which can be useful for generating more income with affiliate marketing.

Here are some of the ways you can use WordPress for affiliate marketing:

1. List building

Building a list of subscribers can be a very effective strategy for generating income with affiliate marketing. You are more likely to sell your products when you have a strong relationship with subscribers. WordPress offers a number of plug-ins which allow you to create a subs cription form on your site. You can use the contact details collected to send subscribers regular newsletters to share industry news and promote your new products.

2. Affiliate program building

In case you are selling your own products, WordPress has plug-ins which can help you set up your own affiliate program. You can easily add an affiliate page on your site using such plug-ins. People who are interested in being affiliates can sign up on this page. Once they register, they can log in and download promotional materials, advertising graphics and product photos. The plug-in can also help you monitor affiliate commissions easily.

3. Search engine optimization

Search engine optimization (SEO) is very vital for the success of any affiliate marketing site. Optimizing your pages will make your site more visible in search engines, thus making it easier for people to find your affiliate product. WordPress offers numerous plug-ins which can help you optimize your site and thus attract more visitors. This is likely to result in higher sales.

4. Advertising income

If your site attracts a significant number of visitors, you could consider selling advertising space to companies or businesses in your niche. The pricing will vary depending on the position and size of the advert. WordPress has several tools which can help you display ads on your site. You can even rotate your ads, as well as optimize ad placement.

5. Cost savings

With WordPress, you can easily build several unique websites to promote a variety of affiliate products. This would be a very expensive undertaking if a web designer was hired to build each individual website. Since WordPress offers a wide range of customization options and templates, you can build a number of sites without having to spend much. However, to ensure your site stands out among others, take time to tweak your templates.

    Hi Charles Mburugu,
The post is valuable to build step by step affiliate promoting site. It making affiliate marketing clear for even a newbie. Creating list of site subscriber and planning to monetize it is cool option till date in affiliate marketing. Other methods as PPC, Social media promoting are time consuming & more costly things to go with affiliate marketing.

Great stuff as always! I think the best way to perform affiliate marketing through WordPress site is using free plug-ins. Ad-Rotate is the best plug-in you can try. It’s free. It comes with widgets and short codes, you can use it with affiliate, AdSense; I even use it for announcements sometimes. Also track clicks, and if you sell direct ads, your advertisers can log in and get stats. I tend to use it for all my sites.

These are really nice tips, but unfortunately, I’ve created my blog on wordpress.com so I don’t have access to install any customized plug-ins for some affiliate marketing. Any idea how to move easily my blog to a professional hosting service with all the content saved? I actually have no idea how to figure this out without paying a huge amount of money..

Affiliate Marketing is quite hard to set up from scratch, so using WordPress is a much better choice. Of course, using WordPress opens up, as you said, to a lot of plug ins to our usage, but sometimes, putting it together from scratch can also help out.
