[Infographic] Is Social Media Bad For Your Phone?

Most of us use social media, and almost half of us frequently do so on our mobiles as we Tweet, Like, and Update almost every minute of every day. This abundance in social engagement provides a host of positive benefits which allow us to stay better connected and enjoy the best of the web as recommended by our friends and family. It also allows us to stay in touch with people from far and wide that we wouldn’t normally have seen ever again, and share our favourite photos, articles and videos with people from across the world.

However, despite the benefits that we so frequently hear about from major networks such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, we rarely hear of the other side of the fence: the negative effects of mobile networking. How much is too much social media? What are the down sides for our phone? The truth is, we rarely take the time to think about the detrimental effects of such unending social connections but phone retailer liGo Electronics have created this infographic to shed some light on the issue.

By collating research from over 20 independent studies, liGo has created an engaging and illuminating infographic which illustrates top facts such as the fact that Social Networking on your phone whilst driving slows your reaction speed by 38% (more than twice as much as Cannabis or Alcohol). It also reveals that 66% of people have trouble sleeping after using social media on their phones, whilst 25% have frequent arguments with their partners after comments they on networks such and Facebook and Twitter. These kinds of effects often go unnoticed in the media as many people focus only on privacy concerns or commercial and economic factors, consequently the sociological impact of such abundant and unending social connectivity is well addressed in this research.

Definitely, agree with that infographic. The cost of using social media on mobile devices is expensive and also these days, social media lead to numerous lives lost. 🙁
