There are a few features to note in Nokia Lumia phones that we can take a look at here along with a few tips and tricks:

  • Calendar and Appointments

Calendar is the most common feature that can be found in almost all the phones. So, what is unique about it? You might have fixed an appointment with your friend or colleague and for unavoidable reasons you might be running late.

With Nokia Lumia phone, you can send a late message with apologies. The ‘late’ icon in the calendar automatically generates a standard apology text that can be edited when needed. This comes in handy while you are stuck in an office meeting.

  • Battery Saver

Do you like to save some battery on your phone? The ‘battery saver’ option comes to your immediate assistance. When this option is turned on, you will have to check your emails and other apps manually, as they do not run in the background.

This option also displays a summary of the remaining battery life. You can also choose this option to stay on and off, from the advanced option that appears on screen. If you have a busy day at office, this feature can be turned on so that you are not disturbed by new emails and apps.

  • Screenshot

In many instances you might like to take a screen shot of an interesting page. With the Windows Phone 8 Nokia Lumia phones, you can now enjoy using this feature on your phone. Screenshots can be easily taken by navigating to the page you desire and pressing the power/lock key and Windows home button simultaneously.

When you hear the camera snap, the desired image will float on the screen. All the screenshots can be found in the ‘screenshots’ subfolder, which can be found within ‘photos’ and then ‘albums.’

  • Translate Texts

Are you touring in a foreign country? You might find it hard to read a road sign or a menu. If you own a Nokia Lumia phone, you can translate the text in your desired language. You do need a data connection, as the data is transmitted to the Microsoft servers to come up with an accurate answer.

Press the search option and click on the eye-shaped button to open the option ‘scan text.’ Once the scanning is done, you need to press the ‘translate’ button. Isn’t that simple enough?

  • Keyboard Shortcuts

Using the onscreen keyboard can be difficult at times. The ‘&123’ option can be used to toggle between numbers, symbols and texts. To save time, each button can be pressed for a longer duration to bring out the options. Jumping between languages can also be done within seconds.

The keyboard also comes with the ‘word picker’ option, which lists out suggestions and words when few letters are typed. You can select a word from the list by moving left and right. Do you like to include a space or a period? A double tap on the space bar completes the task. Words can also be included in the dictionary by simply highlighting the word and pressing the ‘+’ symbol.

Hope, these tips and tricks will help you handle the phones with much ease.

  3. Microsoft still didn’t develop windows 8 OS as it should. Did you know that S/MIME encryption of MS Exchange mails is NOT supported on Windows 8 devices?

My company wanted to kill blackberry devices and switch to lumnia, and now there is a problem with mails that are encrypted..they cannot be read from Windows 8 OS..

But iOS fully supports it! It’s totally weird, I mean.. MS exchange and Windows 8 are not fully compatible..
