Top 6 Reasons Why You Should Buy the Nokia Lumia 920

The Nokia Lumia 920 is finally here and a lot is at stake for the Finnish based company. Nokia used to be the leader in mobile phones but the rise of the iPhone and Android phones have placed them at the back of the pack.

Now, Nokia is poised to regain some of its luster by staking their future with the success of Microsoft’s latest mobile phone operating system, the Windows Phone 8. As the flagship device of Nokia and the poster child (phone?) of Windows, there are a lot of expectations that have to be met.

But the Lumia 920 seems to be up for it. In fact, here are the top reasons why you should buy this new smartphone:

Windows Phone 8

If you like Windows 8’s big bold but simple interface then it is best enjoyed in Nokia’s large and clear HD screen. It supports NFC, and has other additions like Kid’s Corner and Microsoft Office integrations. It can even make and receive VoIP service calls from third party apps including Skype, which you will have to download from Windows Phone Store.

The best thing about it, however, is the integration with Windows 8. Right off the bat, you will notice how easy it is to sync photos, music, and Office files through the cloud.

Nokia even supplements Windows phone 8. With the lack of default voice navigation, Nokia fills in the gap with its own turn-by-turn navigation app, Nokia Drive, which is already pre-installed.

Wireless Charging

A lot of other manufacturers have had attempts at wireless charging before but it still proved to be cumbersome because it still required some form of charging case. That is not the case (no pun intended) with the Nokia Lumia 920. As implied, there is no charging case required, just a pad where you place your phone in. And the great thing about it is that it does not draw in a charge even when it’s plugged. It will only start working once the Lumia 920 is placed in the pad, so you can just leave the charging pad after you used it.

Camera

The Nokia Lumia 920 sports an 8.7 MP shooter that uses the PureView algorithms that made the Nokia 808 PureView a great device to take pictures with. It also uses Carl Zeiss optics and springs for stabilizing images. Sure enough, the Lumia 920 takes great pictures and it pulls a lot of color from low-light shots. Videos taken are also crisp and smooth, especially with continuous focus turned on. The video quality is set at 720p HD but you can switch to 1080p.

Performance

Powered by a dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor with clock speed of 1.5GHz, this phone provides you with fast and smooth performance, whether you are browsing or running an app. And since it is also running on AT&T’s 4G network, Internet usage is given more power.

Battery

The Nokia Lumia 920 has a non-removable 2,00o mAh battery that can give you up to 9 hours of talk time, 13.3 days of standby time running on 3G. This device has enough juice to support its powerful features.

Durability

Like classic Nokia phones, the Lumia 920 is made of sturdy material. Though the polycarbonate body can feel heavier compared to modern phones, you can be sure that it is made to last.

I am not exactly a gadget freak, but this Lumia 920 is certainly a beautiful phone. I mean in my opinion it is much better looking than iPhone’s, I am really bored with the design of iPhone, its high time that they come up with a good design..

When Nokia Lumia was first launched, the basic model could not do any wonders in the market. However, after reading your post, it feels it has a little scope between all the other smartphones. I still doubt if it can come up as a good cellular device or not.

Windows 8 operating system is amazing to use and the best part about this is that it gives a totally different user interface look.I agree with you James that Apple has to do something about the widgets and the user interface but it has not yet reflected any such things in its successor series. The wireless charging feature of Lumia is something very unique and exciting.

Oh! you had missed display tech by Synaptics, now more touch friendly as well as enhanced with higher FPS. And needless to say, Windows Phone 8 is an awesome OS with super fluid UI.

I am a fan of Nokia lumia series but not not going to prefer Nokia 920, because of two reasons
    1. less applications and
    2. high price,
now a days android is having a largest share in the smartphones and hence it is very rich in smartphone applications.
but Nokia lumia lacks in it..
by the way very nice article 🙂
