Managing Change Through Training

Learning management systems can help company leaders with tasks that they may have never imagined.  Company executives often find that one of the most challenging processes to manage is when the company faces a major change. Sometimes this happens when the company quickly becomes extremely successful, and experiences major growth.

Other times this happens when a company needs a change a company-wide program, such as certifying for a new quality process. During this time, executives can find that employees have a momentum that makes it difficult to alter their course from the status quo.  There are several ways to approach this problem, but one of the most effective is to use training through learning management systems.

The process of change management can be very difficult, and one that many executives underestimate.  Some may try to mandate new systems and attempt to force employees to acquire presentation skills, work with new and perhaps uncomfortable processes.

During this time, some of these employees are left wonder why the management is making a change, why the change is necessary, and secretly wonder if the executives are wasting their time. This heavy-handed strategy can make the change process unnecessarily slow, and cause the employees to resist in a passive-aggressive manner.

Smarter executives learn to manage change through getting employee buy-in and acceptance.  In place of simply handing out a set of new rules, managers can act as change agents to educate employees and help them understand why the new program can be a benefit to them. It brings the minds and the hearts of the employees into the change, and they become a part of the process to help facilitate it.

Training through learning management systems allows all important information to be disseminated.  Automated check-ins can allow employees to learn new rules and regulations at their own pace.  Management can see in an instant if all training has been completed, and if any employees need catching up.  It can include electronic suggestion boxes that allow employees to give feedback.

This information can help management tailor new systems to their particular company, and to the specific departments of each employee. Learning management systems can aid with two of the most difficult processes a company executive must implement: change and growth.

Jared likes to write exclusively about innovative technologies and solutions because I'm a tech professional of over 10 years and a current employee at Dell. I find that individuals and large enterprises are faced with difficulties that can be solved with solutions like Virtualization or cloud computing but aren't aware of them because of traditional media's heavy focus on consumer gadgets. My opinion pieces are geared towards raising consumer awareness around these available technologies.

For most people, any change is uncomfortable. Therefore, when managing change in the workplace, it is your job is to help people see that whatever they’ve been doing in the past can no longer take place. That neither they, nor the business, will be relevant without change.
