Following the official unveiling of the new iPhone 5 in San Francisco and London by new CEO Tim Cook and senior vice-president Phil Schiller, this article takes a look at some of the latest features users can look forward to. For exampe, the new Apple iPhone 5 comes with a four-inch display – a half-inch increase on the iPhone 4s and an innovative Panoramic picture mode, which stitches a series of eight-megapixel images together to create a 28-megapixel masterpiece. However, previous iPhone owners may have to come to terms with a new, re-designed docking connector which means that old accessories will either be obsolete, or need an Apple adapter to work again.

Apple wants to give authorities the ability to shut down our cameras. While under the pretence of “stopping piracy”, this will be far too easy for authorities to abuse – especially at protests and other politically sensitive events. Why would you buy something that you don’t have full control over? And why would you support a company that treats you like a naughty child?

The larger screen really comes to life, though, with what is perhaps its coolest feature – a tool called “Panorama” that automatically stitches together a series of pictures into a majestic vista. Panorama can be turned on simply by going into the iPhone 5’s camera mode and then selecting it on an option menu. Once it’s activated, an arrow guides you as you slowly pan the camera around whatever scenery you desire (if you move too fast, Panorama tells you to slow down and also advises you if you are moving the camera too high or low). Once you are done, you can look at the panoramic shot within seconds and zoom into whichever areas of the picture look most interesting.

The phone looks decent compare to 4 but not that drastic changes. The looks are pretty decent. Overall it’s a satisfactory phone. Wonderful blog, very good comparison. It will make the buyer more comfort should he buy i5 or not. I’m sticking with my i4.

Though iPhone 5 is really not that innovative and it doesn’t have cool new features, we should give it out to Apple because they still managed to pull off a successful launch just like what they did in the iPhone 4S when Steve Jobs was still alive.

I think the iPhone 5 is a great phone and it has improved from the last one, with a better camera and it looks more stylish. However, I still believe it is over rated, where there are phones out there such as the Samsung S3 that are better, if not just as good, and plus they are cheaper. I personally would not pick an apple phone as they are too expensive for what they are.

Design is almost the same as the old iPhone. Missing NFC. No expandable memory option. No removable battery. Hardware is not as good as most of the top Android devices (e.g.,Galaxy S3 has 2Gb Ram, Quad core CPU, higher resolution, bigger screen,etc). It is best iphone ever but not better than Galaxy S3.

Iphone 5 is much sleeker than Iphone 4s. However, I feel Apple has not lived upto the customer excpectations. The launch of this latest phone was hyped a lot and it did not match up to those loud promotions of the phone. I would not prefer an Apple phone irrespective of Iphone 4 or 5 because I cannot handle the elongated proceedure to transfer songs to the phone through itunes.

I think its a nice looking phone. Especially the Black/Slate color scheme. But feature wise, I’m not sold. Wanted to see this release before deciding on my next phone. Still like the Samsung Galaxy S3. Those new earpods are cool though. Good comparison, thanks for sharing.

The iPhone 5 completely rebuilds the iPhone on a framework of new features, its a nice looking phone, especially the Black/Slate color scheme. It’s absolutely the best iPhone to date, and it easily secures its place in the top tier of the smartphone world.

Pretty decent phone not up to the expectation, it Doesn’t even threaten the Galaxy S3. What’s happened to Apple? still reliant on itunes, still no customization, still no file transfer via bluetooth, still no notification led, still no expandable memory, still playing catch up. Nice comparison of i4 & i5 will give clearer picture for the reader to buy or not to buy.

Sure it looks like a decent improvement when you compare it to the iPhone 4 but I would of liked to see a bit more.
When you compare this to phones of the same generation it doesn’t really do anything for me. Take the Apple badge off it and this phone wouldn’t have been noticed by anyone.
Each to their own though, I suppose.

I have now realised there is no updating my iPhone because they are more or less the same and I do not think it is the worth it. There is a better camera, however I already have a digital camera so there would be no point for me to change.

This is a great post, I have just purchased the iPhone 5 and I have to say that there are a few more improvements but I do not think it is that much different from the previous iPhone, however I’m sure my opinion will change when I use it more! Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for the comparisson but I still feel that Apple are releasing upgrades to quickly, why not spend more time developing a new product which completely dominates the older version, instead of small additions and fixes all the bloody time!

Hello, thank you for sharing this post. I personally think there are not any significant differences between the two versions of the iPhone, so there is no point upgrading it. There is a better camera though and it is a lot more stylish, but I think it is over rated.

I am honestly dissapointed by the iPhone 5. But I guess there weren’t many more features apple could have implemented. Still, they could have added customisation, and since Apple is considered by many as an individual tier, away from Samsung and Sony, that would have made a huge impact. Good post, thanks for sharing.

This phone deserves a 90. It is a great phone. Not revolutionary like the original iPhone but evolutionary in almost all the right ways (speed, size, screen, weight, OS, fixability, durability, and future-proof ability). The only thing I don’t get is why some people think it’s a failure because it has a lot of the same things that other phones have. Good comparison, thanks for sharing.
