9 WordPress Plugins For Your Business Blog

WordPress is one of the best choices for an online publishing tool. Aside from being free, it gives your blog added features with its many available plugins. Here are some power-packed plugins for your WordPress site:

All in one SEO Pack

This is the only SEO plugin you’ll ever need for your site.  A reliable and well-maintained plugin, the All in One SEO Pack simplifies search engine optimization for bloggers.  The plugin lets you place meta descriptions and keywords for each post and also allows you to edit the blog post URL so you can optimize it for search engines.

Akismet

If spammers are your problem, Akismet is the solution.  Akismet checks comments made on your WordPress site against the Akismet web service. This plugin filters these “spammy” comments and lets you review them in the “Comments” admin screen before they get published.  Among the new features in Akismet 2.5 are:

  • Comment status history
  • The number of approved comments for each user
  • Highlighted links, so you can see which may be hidden or misleading links
  • More information in the spam and unspam reports

ClickDesk

If you have some extra money to spare for your business blog, then consider using ClickDesk.  The plugin combines powerful features that let you build online trust and give better customer support.  Its features include:

  • Live chat – lets you chat through instant messaging services
  • Help Desk – manage emails and offline chat easily
  • Voice Chat – allow customers to call you through an integrated browser VoIP service
  • Social – encourage visitors to like your page or tweet about you from the chat window

Digg Digg

According to research, proof that your post has been shared increases social sharing of that post.  The Digg Digg sharing bar easily lets you add a floating share bar to your posts. This plugin is easily customizable, receives constant updates, and includes sharing buttons for relatively new social media sites like Pinterest and Buffer.

Hello Bar

The Hello Bar plugin is great plugin for promotions or announcements.  The plugin is customizable and can be linked to your other blog posts or pages.  It also shows the number of clicks your message gets.

Google XML Sitemaps

Help search engines like Google, Yahoo, and Bing index your blog. Sitemaps retrieves the structure of your site more efficiently and notifies all major search engines whenever you have a new post.

Jetpack

Don’t ignore this plugin if you have a self-hosted WordPress site. Jetpack gives your blog all the features of WordPress.com: monitor your blog stats, enable WordPress.com users to comment on your site, allow subscriptions, share content on social media sites, check your spelling and grammar, customize CSS without modifying your theme, easily embed videos, insert a contact form anywhere in your site, keep a real-time back up of your WordPress site, and more.

Personal Favicon

Customizing your favicon is another blogging basic. Use this plugin to enable this feature.

upPrev

If you visit the New York Times online, you’d notice that their web articles have this animated button at the bottom right corner. upPrev emulates this feature, letting you display a simple button that can show random, related, or previous posts.  If you want to increase your click-through rates, use upPrev.

    Hi, Christine:

Many underestimate the value and added functionality that a WordPress plugin can bring to a blog. The key is in learning what the different plugins do and how they can help your site, and then downloading and using just the one’s that add value.

However some do tend to go overboard and add to many plugins to their blog, which then slows down the site. Keep the plugins to a minimum and add just a smart and select few.

    Thanks for sharing.

    Cheers!

I never recommend Aksimet as it can’t differentiate between a spammer and real commentator

Surprised not to see ‘Click Retweet/Share/Like’ as it allows you to publish your content to 30+ social sites automatically further more it also allows you to add 8 social media buttons so everyone can have access through your blog.

Akismet seems quite useful to me becasue it holds back spammers from unnecessarily leaving behind spammy comments on my blog and posts. However, I am scared it might also block or keep away non spammers or maybe new bloggers from site. I am in a big dilema right now and seek some advice over this doubt of mine.
