Ladbrokes: An Example Of Security In Online Gambling

It has surprised no one that as the internet grew and more of the general population were using it to purchase items and make payments, online fraud grew with it. Many thefts now take place through the internet as web technology develops and more items become available to purchase online. As a result, the public are being warned to take extra care when entering their credit or debit card information online particularly when it comes to online gambling. Today, there are a lot of online gambling web sites that actually make an effort to protect their customers against theft of their card details. For example,  Ladbrokes is seen as one of the most secure websites in this regard due to the amount of technology they use put in place to try and safeguard customer information. They employ a number of security measures to help protect their customer details from being hacked or accessed by an unauthorised person. In fact, Ladbrokes have been often quoted as saying that the protection of their customers’ information is of the upmost priority for them and they have been mostly found to be true to their word.

With a number of security-related technologies being employed, for example, on their mobile phone apps, Ladbrokes are taking a number of measures to make sure customers details such as registration information, debit and credit card numbers are safe. In doing so, their systems encode and encrypt all the data that is entered in to their secure pages using Secure Socket Layers technology. This is a standard security measure taken by web sites that take payments or personal details in online transactions seriously. The Secure Socket Layers technology then encrypts any collected data before they are sent to the corresponding server(s) which will then decode or unlock the data through a password or private key in a secure location. All of this means that there is very little chance of the data being intercepted by hackers while it is transferred from your computer to Ladbrokes servers and therefore very little chance of your details being stolen.

I guess that after the Sony’s PSN outage from last year, every company that kept registration information, debit and credit card numbers of the customers are trying to make them more secure.
