Royal Wedding Tops Web Searches

royalwedding photosA quarter of Web searches around the world are currently on the royal wedding with around five out of ten trending searches in the United States including keywords such as kate middleton, william and kate, prince william and kate middleton and princess diana death. This result is quite astonishing considering the fact that a lot of people particularly in the United States claim to be uninterested in the wedding event of the year. In Britain, the case is quite different, with the government saying that licensed British pubs will likely be allowed to stay open late so as to toast Prince William and Kate Middleton. Members of the public are also encouraged to organise street parties without the fear of being red taped.

The royal wedding ceremony which will be held on Friday, 29 April 2011 at London’s Westminster Abbey has been described as a truly global affair with an expected 2 billion people watching live on television (TV). This is in addition to the over 600000 visitors that are expected to celebrate the wedding between Prince William and long term girlfriend Katerine Middleton this weekend. With many foreign dignitaries and world leaders expected to be in attendance, one family that will be conspicuously absent at the wedding event is America’s first family. President Obama was not invited although he is expected to meet the newly weds when he visits Britain next month.

I never expected the royal wedding to be so popular. Most of us in England dont really care for the royal family so much anymore.

I might be watching it on TV if i’m not doing anything – but it’s not something i would reserve my day for.

A lot of people couldn’t be bothered by the royal wedding but because it’s so hyped up, everybody’s getting curious, one way or another.

I think the U.S. has a lot more to deal with then to attend a wedding. Especially with the campaigning for the election next year, he should really focus at home anyway. Though, why don’t you think he made it on the guest-list in the first place? Is our relationship with Britain that bad?

I think he was not invited because the wedding is not formally classified as a State event.

I don’t understand why this is so big deal? Of course if i would be invited or something than i would prepare myself for it and be there but other way i see no reason to be so curious…

I don’t know why the whole media of the world is running behind this royal weeding stuff when there are more then 100s of things in this world which are more important then this wedding. Being the most expensive weeding so far, It is going to put a lot of pressure on Britain’s economy and the biggest matter of concern is the security of royal guests and the weeding couple too, if the wedding would not have been hyped so much then this would have been much easier.

the wedding gives people a chance to escape from their normal lives and live the fantasy that a commoner can marry a prince, it is every little girls dream when she reads cinderella or watches any disney movie,
That is why the royal wedding is such a big deal!

All this buzz about the wedding i believe is not about the event it’s self but about hope.
There are millions of people out there asking themselves what will be if…
An event like this does not take place every year and also women love this stuff. There is no need to go against it this since the top searches on Google and Yahoo is about this event…
    Cheers!

This is really “wedding of the year” for now. Hopefully, their marriage not the same as Prince William’s parents

Even if you were not interested in this wedding, everyone was talking about it and you were filled in on the scoop. If you were online at all that week, you were in the loop.

Perhaps it is quite un-american like to want to pay attention to a royal wedding in England, but at the same time, there is certainly a lack of real royalty in the States. When real world prince and princess get married, it captures the imaginations of teenage girls and women around the world. Maybe it is more of a guilty pleasure to want to pay attention.
