Portable WiFi Technology Competes With Company Hotspot

As portable WiFi technology continues to advance, the impact on company hotspots is being felt more strongly throughout the corporate world. When an individual wireless hotspot can offer several employees the ability to connect to the Internet anywhere, not simply within range of the company’s hub, it only makes sense that businesses take advantage of the increase technology.

By choosing wireless routers that offer a shared broadband connection virtually anywhere, consumers receive self-contained devices equipped with internal rechargeable batteries that offer plug-and-play wireless Internet several people at one time. With such technology available, it’s easy to see why a company would forego the expense of a business-wide hotspot and choose portable WiFi instead.

Many companies, especially small businesses, have begun canceling their DSL or cable Internet services entirely and choosing to go with a company hotspot instead. A mobile router enables a connection that is typically a step above such standard services, while also eliminating one more wire from the tangle on the floor. Since most new technology comes equipped with an internal wireless adapter, there are no worries about devices being able to access the connection either.

There are many possible choices when looking at portable WiFi devices. One of the newest options is the PHS300 Personal WiFi Hotspot from Cradlepoint. The PHS300’s plug-and-play technology offers users a 3G/4G network with a range of up to 150 feet for up to 16 users or WiFi enabled devices.

The PHS300 is IEEE 802.11 standard compliant, powered by rechargeable, replaceable batteries as well as an auto power adapter, is fully portable, and offers hours of secure WiFi anywhere coverage is available. And its small size of 3 x 5 inches makes it easy to stash in a briefcase or bag.

Other portable wireless equipment offers the same features and benefits, of course, with new models being released every week. While brands may vary and prices may differ, the ability to connect to the Internet wirelessly, via a portable broadband connection, is a good selling point for companies considering the change to portable wireless.

Also, with costs going down like they often do when technology becomes more readily available, portable wireless solutions and WiFI technology are expected to continue to increase in popularity over the coming months.

Business travellers will find the convenience and access available via wireless routers and portable mobile hotspots invaluable. This technology allows users to remain connected to the office, clients and customers easily without the need of a public WiFi or wired connection. That alone makes the device competitive to the company hotspot that provides service only for employees in the building.

Our company uses a cradle point and they work great. There can be like 5 of us hooked up at the same time and we dont see a ton of lag on the bandwidth speed. With iphone hotspots and tethering become more and more common, Im not sure mobile router will last very long.
