PREVIEW: RIM’s PlayBook vs Apple iPad

The battle between tablet computers seem to be getting hotter with Research in Motion’s (manufacturers of Blackberry smartphones) PlayBook tablet set to take on Apple’s iPad. Hailed by some technology enthusiast as the first serious contender to the iPad, the seven-inch PlayBook was recently unveiled at a trade show in America. The PlayBook will allow users to perform multi-tasking actions while a rotating carousel will make it possible to identify all programs running on the device at any given time. Below is a side by side comparison of both devices i.e. Blackberry PlayBook and Apple iPad.

  1. I like the dual camera feature. It reminds me of the handheld Sony Vaio from a couple of years ago. Based on the raw materials cost for a camera I think it was a big mistake to not have a camera on their iPad, especially if they wanted to score a KO on the tablet market at the outset.

    1. Just wait for the iPad 2 to be released, it will have a front and back camera and will continue to blow everything out of the water. Im not partial to apple at all I just dont think people can compete with them.

I dont think anyone wants to have to use amazon music on their tablet and then use iTunes on their iPod its just too much.

I will be purchasing the iPad 2 when it is released for my business, plus its just really cool… Plants VS Zombies FTW

  2. I agree, the iPad definitely should have had a camera feature of some sort. That said, the Apple brand name was enough to make the iPad such a coveted item in 2010… I hope the iPad 2 improves upon it and adds more feature, it has lots of potential.

  3. I am using Blackberry tour and i am great fan of Black berry they produce the finest phones and i am sure this tablet is going to be the big one, Apple should have add bluetooth and camera in iPad if they wanted it to be the best tablet.

  4. You know, if to look at the table and compare, Playbook wins, even despite the size of the tablet is smaller (but it fits the hand better). The announce life of battery will be about 10 hours as well, so may be Playbook will be a bouy for BB from all the mocking it suffers now?
