Blackberry is the latest technology giant to join the increasingly competitive tablet computer market. The firm has released a new device called the PlayBook, to rival Apple’s iPad, at its developer conference, Devcon, in San Francisco. Research in Motion’s Blackberry Playbook tablet intends to challenge the iPad not only in the general consumer market but also in the business environment.

The 7-inch (18cm) PlayBook’s screen display comes with cameras in its front and rear ends to make business conferencing a lot easier for its users. In addition, the device operating system will use the QNX software, recently acquired by Research In Motion (RIM) and specifically developed to work in a tablet computer environment. RIM hopes that the PlayBook will be as successful as its Blackberry smartphones which dominates the business sector. Although the price has not been announced yet, it is expected to be cheaper than most tablet PCs when it sale begins next month.

  1. I think the sudden increase in the competitions within the tablet computer device in the market will real affect the global domination of Apple’s iPad, if the price and the component of the competitors are better than that of iPad. Price is going to a major determinant factor.
