So, the three tops social networking site in the world are:
    1. Facebook
    2. MySpace
    3. Linkedin
But why is Nielsen Company, did nit classify Twitter as one of the social networking site?

I think that’s because Twitter is generally regarded as a micro-blogging site and does not allow the other functions used in the classification such as allowing posting and updating pictures, videos, Web chat etc.

Thanks for your reply admin, yes Twitter is more of micro-blogging than social networking sites. But people like me used to classify as social networking site, I think, I will stop it from now.

Well, personally I would say that Twitter is a social networking site. But it all depends on your definition. For example, mine is based on what Twitter does literally in terms of allowing you to form social relationships and interact with people on the Web.

Yes, that is the way I view it as well. But generally regarded as a micro-blogging site and I think that is one of the reason Facebook pool more users than Twitter.

The problem is that Twitter really is more of a bulletin board to get information to the masses. It allows an icon to talk to followers without limit, but limits the followers contact to connecting directly with the original poster, but not the followers of said poster unless they are following the replier as well.

I’m sort of surprised that linkedin is as high as it is in multiple areas. How myspace has stayed up there though is a mystery to me

It seems like my 2 favorite social networking sites, Facebook and MySpace, took the top spots. Twitter is also one of my favorites and I would agree that it is a social networking site and it is also a microblogging site. Twitter allows us to meet and greet many people from different sides of the world like Facebook and MySpace do. Perhaps, Nielsen has a broader classification why Twitter is not included as social networking site.

So, more or less- Facebook is the leading site in the world. It’s not surprising, and it’s also good to know that it’s able to connect so many people. Though, with all the power- do you think it will be good or bad?

It looks like facebook is the top social networking site for almost all the countries. Have you heard about YoHolla, it is believed to combine all the best features of twitter, facebook, and youtube all in one. All of the YoHolla Reviews cause me to predict that YoHolla will soon be the next top social networking site.

Facebook truly is the top networking site. It would have been good if Asian and African countries were also included in the survey. The social media has taken the world by storm and now its not possible to think of communicating without these sites.

Where would Google+ stand in this list now?
Facebook is already losing popularity around 500k users a month.
I think this whole social networking stuff has reached is peak and people start to use it in a more normal way, instead of the obsessive facebook wall checking behavior that we see now.

I think that both Facebook and myspace are on a downwards trend.
People start to see how useless and not social they are.
Sites like Linkedin and even the classmates online site have a real function, so they will only grow. Fb and myspace will never stop to exist but they will not be so important as they are now.
We will probably end up integrating it into our lives and only use it in a normal way.
Right now it is more like people are trying to integrate their normal life into Facebook.

Without a doubt, Facebook tops the charts but Twitter should basically be right behind it. Lets see how long social media sites stay alive for…….
