How to Find Dofollow WordPress Blogs (Part One)

wplogoThere are quite a lot of articles out there on how to make do-follow blogs, yet only a few talk about how to confirm whether a blog is do-follow or no-follow. I was confronted with this issue recently and find it quite necessary to write this article to help other bloggers’ who find themselves in this situation, particular WordPress publishers.

So then what is a do-follow blog? The term refers to a blog that does not make use of the HTML no-follow tag – an attribute that prevents search engine rankings from being influenced by the hyperlinks (e.g. comments and commenter URL) on a given site. The no-follow tag was created to discourage spamdexing and improve the quality of search engine results. However, it can be argued that this tag does not fulfil its potential particularly because most blogs are still overwhelmed by spammers and link-cheats hence the mixed interpretation by various search engines, for example, Google maintains a strict no-follow policy wherever a no-follow tag is present on a web page while Ask completely ignores it.

Since the no-follow tag was created, many weblog platforms such as WordPress automatically marks user-submitted links/URLs as no-follow by default. Once marked, the hyperlinks cannot be modified internally as there are no options to that effect. However, after much debate most WordPress publishers would rather deactivate the no-follow tags because their presence will neither guarantee a spam-free blog nor encourage readers to leave comments on a blog. This has prompted developers to create plug-ins, such as Semiologic’s do-follow plug-in that would automatically disable the no-follow attribute.

Unfortunately, the plug-in will not confirm the do-follow status of a blog before, during or after installation. In order to find this information, you will need to do the following.

To be continued in Part 2.

Do you know how to search for blogs to comment on by keyword? Maybe something like “inurl:comment” Keyword. I haven’t been able to get it to work correctly. Thanks.

Google have to maintain a policy for condemning spammers not genuine commenter.Taking links by generating content is a win-win situation because a blogger is providing creative articles and innovative comments by enhancing qulity of content.

I am blessed to have read part two of you and happy to find part one here. I think the use of keywords to block spam blogs will give you better quality but at the same time will reduce traffic and links to the blog will decrease instead we will using tools to disable the spam by using the Plug-in or Commentor URL, this term refers to a blog that does not make use of the HTML tag – an attribute to prevent ranking search engine is not affected by the hyperlink and it will maintaining your blog is better Google rankings. Good job.

I’ve read part two too but I’m confused:(

Is there an easier way?:( Can someone suggest a way of finding do-follow blogs automatically or semi-automatically – perhaps some software – and (I know I’m cheeky:)) free?

That looks to be a really nice plugin. Use of this plugin will no doubt encourage more users to leave a nice little comment n their posts. Will encourage more interaction. Great one! Thanks

Great information. Those plugins are really helpful; the other method to check in the source is a little cumbersome.

    Thanks

Thanks for this information, it’s going to be very useful for me. Prior to finding this article I was relying on dofollow directories, which at times I’ve find a bit limiting. Now things will be a whole lot easier.

    Thanks again

Dofollow promotes commenting, while the nofollow sites still get just as many bad comments and actually less good ones than a dofollow site. Why does Google bother to keep nofollow around?

It is good idea to keep balance between nofollow and dofollow while doing blog commenting.
