How Can You Learn Your Lessons Faster than Your Classmates?

Memorizing or learning your lessons fast is one of the significant talents you can have. There are several people who say that the only thing that you learn in school is the art of memorizing. Though there are jokes about it, at times, you don’t have any other option apart from memorizing the lesson. For example, do you have any other option apart from memorizing the dates and events in History or the units and symbols in Physics?

Memorization Strategy will Depend on Learner Type

Before you check out on the memorization strategies to learn your lessons faster than your classmates, you need to know the way you learn. Knowledge of your learning style will help you find the best way to study as well as remember the course material. You learn in various ways but usually, you follow one approach of the below discussed three.

  • Kinesthetic

Memorization Techniques for the Auditory Learners

As suggested by the very name, if you learn things best by hearing, you are an auditory learner. You will find it easy to ingest information chiefly by listening to things.

You find it easy to remember information in detail by listening or hearing words rather than taking notes.

Get Rid of Sonic Distractions

You tend to get distracted by sounds easily. This is a downside of auditory learning style.

If you tend to get disturbed by sounds, you can choose a quiet corner of the library or go for the noise canceling headphones. Don’t listen to music. You won’t be able to focus that way.

Record Lectures

The kinesthetic learners face trouble sitting at the desk and need to move around for learning things with efficacy. If you are a kinesthetic learner, traditional classrooms are not the best place to study for you. You will learn better if you participate actively.

Take Breaks

If you are a kinesthetic learner, the long unbroken classes are not for you. This may burn you out. Never try studying at a stretch. After every one hour, take at least 15 minutes break. You need to take breaks frequently but it need not be too long. This will help you to refresh yourself and begin your study session with more concentration and focus.

Engage in Physical Activity

You will be able to learn information best by undertaking a few activities. You can try listening to information while you engage in a physical activity. You can also invest in a stress ball. Squeeze that ball or engage in some other activity while you study. This will help you to concentrate.

Use Flashcards

Flashcards are one of the best study tools for the kinesthetic learners.

Write a question on one side and the answer on the other. The very act of writing the cards and flipping them over can engage your brain.

    Mind mapping helps in many situations. It can be used for work, for organizing a personal or family schedule, for setting your life goals and of course, you can also do a case study analysis using mind maps. A lot has been said about using this technique in educational processes, both for teachers and for students. However, there are always more ways to make these maps work for you. It doesn’t matter if you are a teacher or a student, mind mapping for lesson planing works better.
