3 Cool-to-Have, But Yet-to-Be-Released Wearable Tech Gadgets

With smart and fancy products like Google Glass, Nike Fuelband and Android smartwatches, wearable tech gadgets are the latest trendsetters for consumers who love to stay both aesthetically and technologically savvy. Here are 3 wearables that are anticipated – though the anticipation level may vary – but haven’t been made available on the market yet.

The B&L Cuff

On surface, this is just another ordinary-looking bracelet. Yet it turns out to be tech-infused; after it is linked to a mobile device, it blinks and vibrates when a call or a message is incoming. The owner can customize all of the ambient alerts including illumination colors, patterns and vibration intensity, set personalized alert profiles for important people, or change to illumination-off mode in certain occasions. And when annoyance is not welcomed, it just takes a flick of the wrist to kill the notifications.

Yet perhaps setting red alert for the boss is not appealing enough for consumers to pay $165 – and $15 more for non-US consumers – for a simple plated metal bracelet. Currently running as a Kickstarter campaign, it still needs more than $97,000 at the moment for the project to be successfully funded.

Nymi

It’s like a futuristic scene in movies has been made reality: with this bracelet-like device on the wrist, the user can be identified and authenticated wherever and whenever he or she goes. From buying a coffee, using a smart device, to unlocking a car or checking in for a flight, the Nymi is able to do them all. The secret behind is to connect the Nymi with a person’s unique cardiac rhythm, i.e. the heartbeat, for identity recognition. Together with motion-sensing technology, it will also be able to receive task-specific commands through simple gestures. Pre-orders are currently still available on Nymi’s website at $79, with an expected shipping time in mid 2014. However, the shipping has already been postponed to Fall 2014, according to their Facebook representative back in April.

iWatch

Not much has to be written – its name already has it all. Expected to be released in October, Apple is already creating buzzes by hiring Patrick Pruniaux, sales director of luxury Swiss watch brand TAG Heuer, to assist in the launch. With rumors that it will feature a 2.5-inch touchscreen, sensors for health and fitness, and a modified iOS system which is connectable to iPhones and iPads, the iWatch will surely become another huge blitz since the launch of iPad back in 2010.
