How To Stop Cold Callers & Unwanted Phone Calls

cold callers

Cold callers are never welcome. They make you answer your phone, only to be disappointed and annoyed when you have a salesperson to deal with. When you start receiving several of these calls each week, the problem changes from harmlessly annoying to becoming a real nuisance. If you want to stop having to deal with these cold callers, follow the advice below:

Report All Cold Callers

Keep a notepad and pen next to your phone. Use it to write down of all the unwanted telephone numbers that contact you -€“ remember to always ask for the name of the company and person calling you. Even if the company withholds their umber, you can still report the call as long as you take note of the time when the call came through. Use this information and report the caller to your telephone provider, Ofcom, the Information Commissioner’s Office, and Action Fraud. You can easily find the phone numbers of these places where you can report nuisance calls online.

If you don’t report the problem, there is little chance that the company will be warned about their aggressive and invasive marketing techniques. If everyone takes the time to report the offenders, the problem can be dealt with quicker and more effectively.

Use A Caller ID and Screen Your Calls

If you don’t have caller ID on your phone yet, it is probably something worth investing in. Caller ID will let you screen your calls. If you see a number you don’t recognise or a number you know is from a company you aren’€™t interested in talking to, you can simply refuse to pick up the phone.

With Caller ID, you never need to worry about missing important calls from your friends and family. The only problem is, you might find it stressful listening to the phone ringing and waiting for it to stop when you have decided not to pick up the phone. It is a useful tool, but it doesn’€™t solve the problem completely.

Call Blocking Is Effective

There is no need to let sales and marketing companies make your life at home stressful. You don’t have to put up with the spam or feel like you can’t answer your phone anymore. If you don’t want to listen to the phone ringing constantly, the best way to stop the calls is by using a call blocking service. These services are worth using if you are fed up with being hassled by:

  • Silent calls
  • Spam callers
  • Marketing and salespeople
  • Surveys and customer research
  • International sales calls
  • Debt collection companies

Unlike any other system, such as the Telephone Preference Service, call blocking is a way of putting a stop to these calls for good. When you block unwanted calls, these companies will have no way of getting through to your phone. You can even use the service to inform others of the cold callers who need to be avoided. Look for a call blocking service that works hand in hand with Ofcom, the police force, and the TPS to get the most effective services possible.
