Being More Productive At Work: Some Top Tips

productivity

The amount of work you do during each day at the office might seem reasonable, but in the event of an increased workload or if you fancy gunning for a promotion, do you ever wonder if there’s more you can do? Boosting your productivity at work might seem a little painstaking, but in reality, it doesn’t take quite so much effort, as the following tips will prove:

Get sufficient sleep

Having a good night’s sleep should never be underestimated. To do that, it’s important to get at least eight hours a night (although an extra hour or so on top might be better for you). By getting sufficient sleep every day, you’ll come into work the following morning feeling more energetic, less lethargic and less prone to fatigue later on in the day.

Have breakfast every day

As obvious as it may seem, having something for breakfast will ensure that you at least have some energy to see you through until lunchtime. Ideally, you should have something healthy like a bowl of cereal (choose one that’s low in sugar such as granola) or a couple of slices of wholemeal toast and perhaps have a piece of fruit or a glass of fresh fruit juice to go alongside.

Make to-do lists

At the end of every day at work, it might be worthwhile listing whatever tasks you have to do the following day. Then, as each task is completed, you can tick it off and move on to the next one, making your workload appear more manageable and easy to understand. Getting into this routine will make you seem more organised and help you to get more done.

Sit in a comfortable office chair

It might not seem that important, but having a comfortable office chair to sit in while working can help you to feel more at ease when at your desk. Chair office made the video below to demonstrate how an ergonomic office chair works. Something that aids good posture and works with rather than against your body can help to prevent the risk of tiredness and, potentially, the development of RSI.

Ward off distractions

If there’s something that must be done as soon as possible, you’ll want to block out any distractions such as background noise or a deluge of email alerts and meeting invitations. To stay focused, it might be worth just listening to music or, if that doesn’t work, wearing a pair of noise-cancelling headphones to stop you from hearing too much conversation or an overly chatty colleague.
