Top 5 Reasons To Ditch Windows 7 For Windows 8

Newer is not always better but it happens to be so in the case of Windows 8. Tons of users across the globe are ditching Windows 7 to try the brand new version of Windows 8.

There are several reasons for this change of heart, of course! After all, we had all fallen in love with Windows 7 and it would have taken a much superior product for us to break up with our old flame and fall for the new kid on the block.

In this article, the top 5 reasons to ditch Windows 7 and pick Windows 8 are listed:

  • Booting Time: The boot time on Windows 8 is way faster than its predecessors. Microsoft has come up with an excellent product in terms of booting time. The trick is the use of better allocation of resources. That brings down the booting time considerably. Moreover, the unique feature of the kernel of the operating system ensures that even during shut down, your computer is in a state of partial hibernation. So, when you fire up your machine, it picks up from where it had left.
  • Searches: Windows 8 does not have what you know as a traditional search box, something that Windows 7 has. How do you search on Windows 8? You just type anything you want on the desktop and a search box is conjured out of nowhere! Searches couldn’t really get easier than this! All the search results and their associate files are immediately there for you to see.
  • User Interface: Microsoft has named the user interface (UI) of Windows 8 as Metro. When you log in to Windows 8, you will see the arrangement of box grids on the desktop, just like you would find on tablet touch screen devices. The grids can be personalized and arranged as per your convenience. Moreover, the grid apps are capable of providing real time information even when you are not logged into the internet. That is something definitely path-breaking.
  • Live Sync: Windows 8 allows users to log into any Windows 8 software with a live id. That way, users based in any part of the globe can see the same desktop, no matter where they are! You can personalize the settings on your Windows live id. This also means that you can easily start working on a new PC without bothering with the arduous task of transferring files and folders.
  • Windows to Go: Perfect for corporate and high flyers, this feature of Windows 8 allows users to take a backup of their entire Windows operating system on a USB drive. The backup includes wallpapers, settings, apps and files. The moment you plug this USB into a computer, you can instantly get your own Windows settings without making any changes on the new PC you are working on. Keeping a backup of important data was never easier. Surely Windows 8 has got these little conveniences spot on!

What a load of crap! 1) Most Win7 installs currently don’t utilize UEFI boot from the BIOS which win8 relies on. Reinstall Win7 with a motherboard that has UEFI, coupled with an SSD, and Win7 boots FASTER than Win8! 2) I don’t want to be constantly search everything. If I have confidential documents and I’m logged into my account, but step away from my desk for a moment, I don’t want to allow someone to just start typing to find information. Yes, I want to open a start menu and then search at a bare minimum. The extra step is a handy security measure. 3) Metro is quite possibly the #1 biggest complaint about Win8 and why nearly everyone hates the operating system. The complete lack of color or depth that looks like it was lifted from a kindergartner’s book hanging on the chalkboard doesn’t belong on an operating system dominated by business. 4) LiveSync is a BAD thing… you know, because it’s now proof the NSA (and other foreign government agencies) are watching everything we do on Windows Live. So you want the NSA knowing how and when you use your computer? Seriously? Wow! 5) “Windows-to-go”? So a feature that’s been built into Windows Servers for the past 15 years (called active directory) that clients already could take advantage of if they knew about it is a legitimate reason to upgrade or purchase Windows 8?

Simply put, had Windows 8 remained strictly for tablets, mobile and touch-based devices it might have had a chance to thrive to the point to introduce this combined operating eco-system in the future. For a desktop OS, beating this horrible junk down the throats of people who rely on an OS to sit in the background to get WORK done every day, particularly IT departments who have to support this crap, has been a disaster. Sales alone are proof. If you need more, take a look at the extremely poor showing and development of Windows 8 apps.

Worse yet, Win8.1 doesn’t address any of these “problems”… I mean “features”. There are endless reasons why the vast majority of people hate this operating system to the point THOUSANDS of them have paid to downgrade their machines to Win7. If you’re a desktop user, stay away from Windows 8… far, far away. It’s a nasty virus you can’t fix.

nice article, great review about window 8,window 8 is similar to window seven but with more apps and easy start menu, windows 8 is great due to easy access to all program by creating desktop icon in another window without odd looking of desktop which is full with icon,it is great for new technologies like for smartphones and tablets for easy touch due to its icon size which is great for touch screen technology. Thanks for sharing precious review and suggestions.

The booting up time and the user interface is a major factor to move on to windows 8. But some bugs make it tough to have stable work lets see how will people react to windows 8.1.

For me the only reason to switch to Windows 8 from 7 is the extremely eye catching user interface.
