What You Need To Know About Long-Tail Keywords In SEO

It is no secret that Google is getting better at analyzing user data and providing the best search results within a fraction of a second.  As a wide demographic of searchers become more familiar with major search engines and search engines become more familiar with common keyword phrases, simple keyword searches have increasingly been replaced by long-tail keywords in SEO.  A few examples of long-tail keywords are:

  • “How to get rid of fruit flies”
  • “How many cups are in 8 liters?”
  • “Best cheap Mexican food in San Antonio”
  • “How do I lose weight quickly?”

Previously, people might search for “fruit flies,” “weight loss,” or “conversion calculator.”  By asking questions or using other forms of long-tailed keywords, search engines can deliver more relevant results to searchers.  Instead of dreading the idea of long-tailed keywords, see the resurgence of long-tailed keywords as an easy way to differentiate your business from comparable businesses and boost search engine rankings.

Connect with the right customers online

Top rankings are only one component of SEO.  Another big component of SEO involves conversion rates.  Your site can have top rankings and get millions of hits, but hits do not drive business.  Sales drive business and boost ROI.  Long-tailed keywords can give your website a chance to differentiate yourself from the competition in all the right ways.  Instead of wasting time on dead-end leads, attract an interested audience from the start.  Serendipitously, attracting an interested audience can help boost your SEO rankings as well as drive sales.

Is Google seen as more human-like?

Google may seem more human-like when searchers can type in specific questions and get immediate answers.  Google also has become better at identifying searchers as real people instead of keywords plugged into an algorithm.  There is a definite search pattern seen as people increasingly use long-tail keywords in search.  Perhaps, both Google algorithms and searchers have a better understanding of how the other works.  Regardless of the rationale behind the popularity of long-tail keywords, they can be highly advantageous to businesses.

How correctly utilizing long-tail keywords can help your business’ rankings

Stuffing a single phrase into written web content can be detrimental to your overall SEO campaign.  Having a long-tail keyword phrase that is difficult to use in a sentence such as “how to get rid of mice” repeated in a landing page many times can make reading written content difficult, confuse site visitors, and look unprofessional.  Work with local internet marketing experts to find creative and meaningful ways to incorporate important long-tail keywords into written content.

Local internet marketing experts can help spur your creativity and help you think outside the box.  Written text does not (always) have to be in paragraph format or full sentences per se.  Find innovative ways to utilize long-tail keywords to your benefit instead of shying away from them.  Internet marketing experts and a clever web designer can help you think outside the box, or outside the paragraph.  Search engines are increasingly looking for sites that can engage their target audience and establish themselves as an authority on a certain subject.  Take advantage of this meaningful trend in search to boost rankings while connecting with the right audience.

I think long tail keywords work more specific than short keywords. Although the number of its search less, but it can bring more visitors to the website.
