Is Buying A Used iPhone Still Worth It?

No doubt, iPhone is one of the most famous and widely used phones of the world. And as time is progressing, more and more people are looking to get an iPhone so as to take maximum advantage of this latest technology. Specifically, the reason why so many people prefer the iPhone over any other kind of phone is that it offers a variety of options for the end users, including: Games, Music, Applications, Internet, etc. Even those who have had the iPhone for many years, claim that they haven’t yet used all the features that iPhone has to offer.

Indeed, no one can deny that iPhone’s abilities and very impressive features makes it an attractive choice for many users especially the teenagers. However, when you compare its price with the price of other phones, the iPhone no longer appears as a perfect choice. There are various competitors coming up with relatively similar kind of smartphones at a much lower prices. Although, it can be argued that the quality that iPhone offers to its users is unique to them, and the Apple App Store is better than that of any other mobile manufacturer.

Therefore, it becomes a tough task for people with a lower budget to decide which way they should go especially if they don’t realize that they have a third option as well, which they can avail at a much lesser cost. In particular, they can buy a used iPhone which is quite cheaper than the newer iPhones. This way they get to use the original iPhone and all of its features at a ridiculously low cost. But before taking this route, it is important to note whether it is worth it or not? Below are few key points that you must keep in mind before buying a used iPhone.

Battery Time: No matter how much battery time your phone offers, it goes down as the time passes. Therefore, a used iPhone will always have a slightly reduced battery time. Since replacing the iPhone battery is a tough task and need professional expertise, it is critical to test the battery time of the iPhone that you are looking to purchase.

Screen: The main charm of the iPhone is its ultra high quality touch sensors and ability to work in between multiple apps quickly with a lightning touch response. Whether the iPhone screen is covered with a protector or not, make sure you check it thoroughly. An iPhone with a scratched screen should always be avoided.

Capacity: Latest iPhones come with 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB storage capacity. You have to ensure that the phone’s capacity meets your requirements.

Features: If you are buying a used iPhone you would probably be looking to buy an iPhone 3, 4, or 4S. In that case, you won’t get the latest features available in iPhone 5. Hence, check that the iPhone you are going to buy have all the required features for your daily tasks.

It can be a very cost effective solution to buy a used iPhone but this depends on how much research you have conducted and how accurate you are when it comes to selecting an iPhone that fulfills your requirements.

I think it is still worth for it, you already can buy a used Iphone4 for 100bucks and in a great condition. I’ve bought one used and I feel totally satisfied.

Since phones are mainly for communicating, I’d rather still get a used iPhone rather than any other phone even if they are better than the iPhone.
I say this because of iMessage which mostly everyone uses in my friend circle and that’s my main source of contact

    Hi Mathieu,

Does Jail breaking the iPhone increase or decrease the value of the device? I got to know that many users pay money to get their device jail breaked. Do you think it is good to hide that the device is jail breaked?

A used iPhone is better than no iPhone at all.

If you can not afford to buy a new iPhone you can still own a used iPhone but the points mentioned in the post must be kept in mind.

    Hey Brandon,
Nice post and thanks for sharing this post with us. Yes, buying a used iPhone still worth it because in place of no iPhone, a used iPhone is still better option and if we cannot afford to buy a high range of iPhone then we can but used iPhone.

If battery time, capacity, screen and display of an used phone is reliable then there is no problem with buying an used iPhone.
